  • Update after owning a couple years
Color: Flat Dark Earth
Update: After using this scope for two deer seasons on my 450 bushmaster I needed to remove it from my rifle. I thought I made a bad shot on a doe the first year when my shot hit high. The next season I missed a deer all together and didn’t know why. I took a shot at my target and I hit 6” high and 2” right at 50 yds. That explained it. So I sighted in again on 4 power and was touching bullet holes. But it was still bothered me how it moved. So I adjusted the power down to two and back up to four. Completely missed a milk jug at 50 yds. Once you adjust the power it moves your point of impact drastically. Going to put it on my 22. Pretty disappointed because I really liked it. This is a lot of scope for the money. Very well made. And no, I'm not going to compare this scope to a $1,500 scope. If you want a good scope without going broke, this one is for you. The clarity is very good, as good as my twice as expensive Burris. I am very impressed with the illumination of the reticle. Whether on red or green, the lowest setting is not overpowering of your target with a Kill light while hunting, unlike cheaper made illuminated scopes. Sighting in was a breeze, positive click adjustments. The reticle itself is sweet, very usable for any situation, close or far. This is my first "first focal plane" scope and I love it. On 1X it is like using a red dot with crosshairs. Great field of view. Some smaller objective scopes are like looking through a key hole, makes the image appear smaller than it is. Not this scope! It is true to size power adjustments maintaining a great field of view throughout. The eye relief is generous and compliments the use of this scope very well in any situation, close or far. It is a bit heavier than I wanted but will gladly sacrifice weight for durability and quality. You will not be disappointed with this purchase. Even comes with accessories. I am a Monstrum fan for sure now. Will buy more products from them. it. I originally thought I pulled ... show more

  • CLEAR GLASS, HOLDS SOLID ZERO
Color: Flat Dark Earth
After months of struggling with a vortex strike eagle 1-6 that had a floating zero which i paid around 400$ for i decided to send it back to vortex, in the mean time i needed to pick up a LVPO that i could use for competition and fun at the range. after doing alot of research i decided to try this monstrum 1-4 based off of reviews from multiple sources. I have only taken it to the range one time, I zeroed really quickly and took her out to the 1000 yard range. using a 50 yard zero shooting 55gr 5.56 out of a 16 inch barrel the Hold over marks on the BDC reticle were dead on. first mark 50-200 second mark 300, 3rd mark 400 and so on. and i was easily able to reach out to 500 yards on 8MOA steel, 8moa at 500 yards is a 40 inch target for those of you who dont know. at 200 yards 8moa is 16 inch target. i was able to shoot about 250-300 rounds without my zero even slightly shifting and was very impressed with its ability to hold a zero. NOTE: I DID NOT USE THE SCOPE RINGS INCLUDED WITH THE SCOPE, as soon as i took them out of the box i could tell they were not good quality so i used my Vortex optics scope mount.. the glass quality is very clear even at full magnification, the reticle is very crisp. i cannot comment on durability yet, but i will try to edit my post here whenever i break this thing, im gonna run it hard and see how long it lasts. when it breaks ill go back to my strike eagle after vortex fixes the zero issues or sends me another one. EDIT: so far so good. i ran this scope for 3 days hog hunting in the rain and had ZERO issues, the battery life is good if you keep it on low power at night, and during day keep it off. the glass got a bit foggy after being in the rain without the scope covers for about 4 hours while stalking pigs at night. but they dried out really quickly as soon as i got out of the rain, then didnt fog back up for a couple more hours after going back out in it. ... show more

  • Not bad at all
Color: Flat Dark Earth
So I must confess that this was one of the ONLY choices for a LPVO in flat dark earth at this price point. The color was the biggest driver due to my gucci build - all of my accent parts are FDE. As far as raw performance there are a few pros and cons Pro * FFP scope at this price point is amazing. * Glass is relatively clear * Comes with a honyecomb filter sun-shade (which I likely will not use, but a nice add) * Nice tactile feel for elevation and windage knobs * lluminated reticle is fairly bright (especially green mode) * FDE option (one of my top considerations) * Did I say excellent price point? Con * While it is FFP, the reticle is so thin and far away at 1x that it makes its use as a red-dot replacement not as easy as a second-focal plane. This will require extra practice to acquire the small thin reticle in 1x mode. * Zoom is more like 1.2x at 1x, but acceptable enough to keep both eyes open during target acquisition * Because of the make of the tubing, you are limited in the type of cantilever mounts that can be used; you are better off with separate scope rings (the unit comes with two black scope rings) * No option to get the scope rings in FDE (Had to purchase those separately) Also, the included scope rings are higher profile (2.1 in height), so If you want to match the current scope rings, do not go with low profile rings. * Very stiff zooming with no throw lever or notch Neutral/ things to know: * Replace the CR2032 Battery that comes with it ASAP. No telling how long its been in there, and the newer battery up the brightness a little for me * If you plan to abandon your red dot, you will have to practice with this one. I have other LPVO's that the transition from red-dot to scope was less drastic than with this. Once again, for the price and color scheme, this is an OK buy. From a performance standpoint, $50 more will get you a little more from other brands. You can still shoot great groups with this scope, especially at zoom. ... show more
