  • Great for the price
Style: BDC-B1 Reticle
I will admit, if this was a $200 optic, it would probably only get 3 stars. So I put this on my Ruger Charger 22lr. It is great for that role. It is relatively lightweight, about half the weight of my Sig Tango LPVO's when you factor in their mount. It has a great eye box making it very easy to pick up the target. Surprisingly good glass quality for the price, I've had $200 optics with worse glass. The throw lever is prominent enough for quick changes while small enough to remain tactical. Cons: Not true 1x, hazy at full magnification. The crosshair is a tad out of wack, but close enough for government work. For a budget build, I would highly recommend this optic. ... show more

  • OUTSTANDING QUALITY AND VALUE IN AN AFFORDABLE LPVO PACKAGE
Style: CM8 Reticle
I recently purchased the Monstrum Archangel SE 1-6x SFP LPVO scope with integrated mount for my AR-15 rifle, and I cannot recommend this optic highly enough. After three months of regular use at the range and in field conditions, this scope has proven to be an exceptional value that punches well above its price point. This is hands-down one of the best budget-friendly LPVO options currently available on the market. FIRST IMPRESSIONS AND BUILD QUALITY When the Monstrum arrived, I was immediately impressed by the overall construction quality. The scope features a robust one-piece aluminum tube with what appears to be quality machining throughout. The integrated Picatinny mount is a major selling point—it eliminates the need for separate expensive rings and mounts, saving money while actually improving co-witness height and reliability. The mount feels solid and secure, with no wobble or play when properly installed on my rifle. The objective lens is generously sized at 24mm, and the glass quality is noticeably good for the price range. The turrets have a satisfying click with clear detents, making adjustments precise and repeatable. The knobs are textured and easy to grip with gloved hands. The illuminated reticle dial operates smoothly with distinct brightness levels, and the battery compartment is easily accessible from the side of the scope. OPTICAL PERFORMANCE AND CLARITY The optical performance of the Archangel SE has been genuinely impressive during my testing. At 1x magnification, the field of view is genuinely wide and bright, making it excellent for close-quarters shooting and rapid target acquisition. The 6x magnification provides sufficient zoom for mid-range engagements without introducing excessive weight or requiring an additional optic. The transition between magnifications is smooth and buttery—there's no grinding sensation or hesitation. The SFP (Second Focal Plane) reticle is well-designed and maintains good visibility across the magnification range. At 1x, it's not overly obtrusive, and at higher magnifications, it scales appropriately for range estimation. The illuminated center dot is bright without being overwhelmingly so, and it turns off completely when you don't need it, preserving battery life. I've tested this scope in various lighting conditions—bright sunlight, shade, and low-light scenarios—and the optical transmission is consistently excellent. There's minimal color distortion, and chromatic aberration is well-controlled, even at the edges of the field of view. The eye relief is forgiving and comfortable, allowing me to position the scope in various ways without getting "scope bite." The exit pupil is appropriately sized throughout the zoom range, which means the scope is usable across different shooting positions and distances. PERFORMANCE IN THE FIELD I've used this scope extensively at 50, 100, 200, and 400 yards, and it performs admirably at all distances. At close range (50 yards), the 1x magnification with the wide field of view makes it phenomenal for quick target acquisition and fast follow-up shots. The scope doesn't restrict my peripheral vision, which is critical for dynamic shooting drills. At mid-distances (100-200 yards), the 3-4x magnification sweet spot provides excellent target definition without sacrificing field of view. This is where the LPVO design truly shines, and the Archangel SE delivers. At 400 yards and beyond, 6x magnification gets tighter but still maintains enough brightness and clarity to be genuinely useful for precision work. The turret adjustments are repeatable and precise. I've dialed multiple times and returned to zero without issues. Each click is audible and tactile, making windage and elevation adjustments confidence-inspiring. The reticle subtensions are practical and easy to work with for holds and quick range estimation. The illumination system has been flawless—the brightness levels allow for shooting from bright daylight to dim indoor ranges without difficulty. DURABILITY AND RELIABILITY After hundreds of rounds fired across multiple firearms and various weather conditions, the Archangel SE continues to perform flawlessly. I've taken this scope out in rain, dust, and cold weather, and it has shown no signs of water ingress, fogging, or performance degradation. The construction feels robust, and the integrated mount hasn't shown any signs of loosening or shifting—this is where quality engineering really pays dividends over cheaper alternatives. The coating on the glass appears durable and resistant to fingerprints and smudging. Cleaning has been straightforward with no signs of coating damage. The turrets continue to operate smoothly with no grinding or grinding sensations that might indicate internal wear. PRACTICAL ADVANTAGES OF THE INTEGRATED MOUNT The integrated mount deserves special mention because it's a game-changer at this price point. Not only does it save money compared to buying separate rings, but it also eliminates potential points of failure. There's no wobble from ring connections, and the bore sight is factory-aligned and reliable. Installation was straightforward—simply mounting to Picatinny rail and tightening to spec. The height over bore is appropriate for most AR-15 applications, allowing for use of iron sights if needed. WHAT MAKES THIS A 5-STAR CHOICE For the price—significantly less than comparable branded LPVO options from major manufacturers—the Monstrum Archangel SE represents exceptional value. You're getting optical clarity and build quality typically found in scopes that cost two to three times as much. The 1-6x magnification range is ideal for modern rifle use cases from tactical applications to hunting to sport shooting. The integrated mount is a practical advantage that simplifies setup and improves reliability. The illuminated reticle is intuitive and well-designed. Battery life has been excellent—I'm still on the original battery after three months of regular use. The scope is lightweight, well-balanced, and doesn't add unnecessary bulk to your rifle. Everything about this scope feels purposeful and well-engineered. MINOR CONSIDERATIONS If I had to mention anything, it would be purely subjective: some shooters prefer exposed turrets for elevation holds in the field, whereas this design favors a more streamlined profile. Additionally, the 24mm objective means the rear of the scope sits relatively high, which is worth considering if you have specific rail space limitations. These are not flaws—simply design choices that work perfectly well for my application. FINAL VERDICT The Monstrum Archangel SE 1-6x SFP LPVO scope with integrated mount is a five-star purchase that I enthusiastically recommend to anyone seeking a quality, affordable LPVO. Whether you're building a new rifle, upgrading an existing one, or simply looking for a versatile optic, this scope delivers professional-grade performance at a civilian-friendly price point. In a market flooded with mediocre budget options and overpriced premium alternatives, the Archangel SE carves out the sweet spot: genuinely good quality that won't break the bank. This is one of the best purchases I've made for my rifle setup, and I have zero regrets. If you've been on the fence about which LPVO to choose, this should be at the top of your list. ... show more

  • Bad tilt to the right before and even after installing onto the rail
Style: BDC-B1 Reticle
Bought the first SFD16B-BDCB1 and noticed right off the bat, that the reticle was tilted to the right side horizontally. In the instructions, it mentions that it will be tilted before installing onto the rails of the firearm, but it was still pretty poorly tilted to the right after installing. I bought a second unit in hopes that I had a one-off, but this was the exact same issue. I don't recommend this product as it can't even leave the factory without being properly horizontal after installing onto the rail. ... show more

  • Great Item - Bad luck Great Item - Bad luck
Received a defective item. As a start/first impression, I was really impressed with the quality of this piece. Very clear glass. Solid construction. Mounting hardware built in. Slightly heavy but not an issue for me as I have no intention of running around with it. The ret is nice and bright. And came with an extra battery. Plus an extra star allan and additional screw that didn't seem to have a use at all? Unfortunately while admiring the clearness through the glass I caught sight of possibly a hair? No big deal, they give you a cleaning cloth so I pulled it out and wiped the lenses. Immediately noticed two things. First, the cloth left an oil on the lens that was as bad as a fingerprint. Second, the “hair” is internal. So unfortunately the item is now out of stock and so I was left unable to swap it for a new item. I loved the scope. Just think I was unlucky ... show more

  • Angled reticle, very nice otherwise Angled reticle, very nice otherwise
Style: CM9 Reticle
This could be an ideal lpvo if you need robust, snag free and compact controls, integrated mount and 2nd focal plane. All of which is why I bought it, but it showed up with the angled reticle issue. Then Amazon lost the replacement and stopped updating tracking so eventually I gave up and canceled the replacement. If they take care of the reticle QC issue this could be a very sweet package but I might recommend buying directly from them due to Amazon’s worsening service, I believe Monstrum charges the same price plus shipping. Sorry Monstrum, I really had high hopes for this one. ... show more

  • This is the best affordable LPVO I found to date
Style: CM8 Reticle
This fit the build for one of my Pistol builds that looks kind of sci-fi. I've heard very positive reviews from Monstrum, as well as the founder, taking particular interest in quality control, affordable price, and a lifetime warranty. The quality was excellent and I haven't found anything comparable for anywhere near the price. This was my first purchase and after showing it to my adult son both he and one of his roommates bought the same Scopes as well. So far, I've used it since purchase about every other weekend and I liked it so much I bought the same model but as first focal plane, the forward mount Magnifier and one of the other 1 to 6 model models that came with the a mounting Rail since that time. I'm very happy with the quality and the performance of one of their products. Thank you! ... show more

  • Budget LPVO with good customer service
Style: CM8 Reticle
I had mixed experiences with this scope. The first unit I received had an illumination issue where the reticle light stopped working shortly after setup. However, Amazon sent a replacement quickly, and the second unit has been working properly so far. The glass clarity, especially at 6x, is actually quite good for the price, and overall it feels like solid value as a budget LPVO. That said, quality control may vary based on my experience. If you get a good unit, it’s a great budget option, but I would recommend testing the illumination right away when you receive it. ... show more
