Description

Platform:Nintendo Switch | Edition:Deluxe Monster Hunter Rise is an action RPG that will transport players to the colorful kamura village, an all-new serene mountain locale that attracts visitors with its unique culture and innovative hunting technologies. After hunters equip their armor and select from one of the various weapon types, all-new hunting grounds await, including the ancient shrine ruins and more. As players defeat monsters and progress through the game, items from Fallen foes can be used to craft unique weapons and armor that will increase their chances of future success and survival. Hunters can tackle these challenges solo, or with up to three other players in local or cooperative online play. Evolving the monster Hunter series, monster Hunter Rise will provide players with an inventive set of new tools to track down and defeat threatening monsters. For the first time ever in a monster Hunter game, wire-based grappling actions can be performed by using a “wirebug” while standing or in mid-air, adding an all-new level of aerial maneuverability to hunting strategies and attacks. The game will also debut new hunting partners called palamutes, personalized and rideable “canyne” companions that will provide players with a new set of attack Options, while “felyne” palicoes will return as support characters for actions like healing.

  • Lack of content. Not as good as iceborne
At first I was very excited for this game. MHW and iceborne were fantastic games that I pumped a full 1000 hours into. However I soon learned this is not as expansive or fun as MHW. There's far less armor sets or abilities, less hunts and activities, the story is very short, and the game tops out at hunter rank 7(really???). The parts of the game I enjoy are the palamute and wyvern riding but I'm very ashamed of my purchase. I recommend waiting for this game to go on sale. It'll be cheaper and they plan to add more content to it later so you'll get more for your buck. Also the deluxe edition is a big rip off. You don't really get anything other than an ugly transmog that you'll never use. ... show more

  • Wait for the GOTY Edition.
There's nothing particularly new or great about this one. The only thing new is that Capcom got greedier. Even if you buy the "Deluxe Edition" you get very little for it and there's about $40 in Day 1 DLC. Wait for a GOTY Edition. You'll spend less and can get everything at a fair price.

  • Too addictive.
So addictive... Play monster hunter for the first time years ago on the DS, Couldn’t really get into it and didn’t get the point. Just running around kill dragon like monsters.. It just wasn’t appealing back then I guess. I did play world for awhile and enjoyed it but for some reason Rise is just amazing! No it doesn’t have a crisp flashy graphics but that’s kind of the charm. I have not been able to put this game down and it actually got me to pick back up the DS version which is great as well. Kind of turned a monster hunter skeptic into an addict. Keep these games coming Capcom! ... show more

  • Essentially "baby's first monster hunter"
Newbies will probably have an easier time getting into this than World/Iceborne (in that perspective alone I'm giving this a generous 4 stars), but Veteran hunters will be quite disappointed with how much they streamlined/removed features. They focused so hard on drawing in new players that they forgot that their long standing fans love of the little details (preparing for a hunt by gathering tools and items is just as important as the hunt itself). There is a near total lack of grinding necessary to earn materials or money, a simplified crafting list, and the offline story ending before you even see the series' flagship monster (rathalos). Some of the new mechanics are neat, though perhaps too easy to execute. But the more I play the more disappointed I get. Eighty hours in and I haven't even glimpsed an elder dragon. The fun canteen scenes that I would always watch start to finish have been replaced by a cutesy tea shop run by a twelve year old (I can't skip these scenes fast enough) which fits the "Japanese" theme of the game but goes against the spirit of the series. They expanded your quest inventory space while simultaneously removing a number of items that have been staples since the very first game (paintballs, bug nets, etc.) so there's no need to manage inventory space any more. They removed several staples such as the kicking mechanic and the aptonoth creatures. The weapon damage numbers (in the weapon status menu) have been changed so much it's impossible to tell what they actually mean anymore. Overall the entire game is far too easy and simple for someone like me to really enjoy (I've been playing since the original on PS2). The only thing that is a straight improvement over World is the addition of the palamutes to compliment the palicos. Everything else is about two steps worse. ... show more

  • Too new to assess, but it seems okay.
Came a day early. Protagonist talks a lot more in this game, than in Monster Hunter World. It’s too new right now to say if it’s harder than Monster Hunter World, but the controls are clunky. You can’t grapple onto monsters, and can’t run if you have your Palamute with you. Action bar instead of having the whetstone, had a bunch of useless gestures and poses. You have to hold the shortcut button and press Y to scroll through for the whetstone instead. You can apparently still place endemic pets at least. ... show more

  • If you want to get into Monster Hunter, try this game
A very good game for people trying to get into Monster Hunter. It combines all the quality of life improvements from World plus the portability of the 3ds games. It has a great variety of monsters and it can be played both with friend and by yourself.

  • Great Game!
If you love Monster Hunter, you have to buy this game. Great game for a gamer who likes a sword game that takes a little more thought to play compared to the average game
