  • Great out of the box.
I bought this because I already owned a Indio Tele. This guitar came already set up perfectly. It sounds good and plays very well. Weight is around 7 lbs. Pickups are ok. Around 4k each. Not garbage but could use an upgrade in the future. Fret ends are noticable but not overly sharp. This guitar also has the most beautiful rosewood for the fretboard as shown in the pictures. I would put this up against and squier affinity any day. This is hands down a better instrument. This is not just a beginner guitar. If you upgraded the pickups and put this in the hands of a blindfolded professional they would not be able to tell you this was not a more expensive instrument. This is easily worth more than $100. ... show more

  • How do they do it!
I bought this guitar to practice working on it because it was such a great value. I figured it would have fret buzz and some problems. But right out of the box the thing played very well. I think with some very minor adjustments it will play even better. On the negative side and whammy bar is very stiff. However, the appearance and finish this flawless. ... show more

  • I'm stunned at the quality. This was the cheapest strat. But it plays like a more expensive brand.
Nice and loud.. I like the body and neck. And the pick ups sound great. Easy to fret to form chords. This Indio guitar is a great deal. I think it as good or better than squier. The neck is just like a squier. The pick ups have a good sound to them not too microphonic.

  • For people willing to do some work
Okay, bad news first. There were some quality control issues. The bottom of the shipping box had a hole in the bottom, which I blamed on the USPS at first. When I open the box, there was no packing material, and it turned out the strap button had come loose and dug a hole through the gig bag and the box. Then I noticed it had three knobs labeled "tone," although it is wired correctly. That being said, I will say the raw tone is very good. The neck is COMPLETELY untreated and unfinished, so it may not feel right to all, but gives you the option to do what you want, like rub it down with a finishing oil. The pickups are the usual generic ceramics, but are a good starting point and let you see how the body sounds. This is an OKAY guitar for beginners. This is a GREAT guitar for modding. The basswood responds to the pickups very well. I bought it because I had some out of production Lawrence pickups laying around so I wanted a cheap guitar I could do an hsh configuration with. The body is routed for an hsh configuration, so if you're willing to change the pickguard and pickup switch and don't mind a little sanding of your new pickguard, you can do almost anything with it. The important thing is, the body itself sounds great, and it's cheaper than buying a kit. And you won't have to paint anything and the only drilling you'll need to do is for the new pickguard. (The missing knob in the last photo is because I wanted 1 vol 1 tone because I do a lot of palm muting.) Update: the cable that came with the guitar stopped working. I almost replaced the jack on the guitar until i tried a different cable. So make sure you add that to your list of purchases. ... show more

  • Professional Guitarist Reviews
Let me start by saying as an ex-military band professional and guitarist (commanded the US Army Signal Corps Band), I had VERY limited expectations for an $84 guitar with a soft case (Case is IMHO worth $25 all by itself). I read every review before purchasing this one and came away with the conclusion that IF it was a good day in the Chinese guitar factory, they put out a good product, but if they didn't get paid on time or fed on time, watch out. I read about fret pops, unsteady necks, nuts that were incorrectly cut, and high action. All are scary and unnecessary things to worry about when buying a new guitar, so be advised. So knowing all this, I ventured $84, thinking I would probably end up returning the guitar in a day or two without any loss, except time and experiencing excitement deflation upon arrival. When the guitar arrived, I thoroughly checked the appearance and functionality. I found ZERO defects with the guitar. It is cosmetically beautiful. The neck is wider than some would prefer, but very comfortable. There were no sharp edges to frets or on the sides of the neck, as I would expect to have to fix. The action was low and easy and the action was the same height as my real Fender Stratocaster. The strings were functional and not uncomfortable to play at all right out of the box. The electronics all work as advertised. In conclusion, not only am I NOT going to return this guitar (and it may just be an uncommonly good example of what the factory puts out) , but you will be hard-pressed to remove it from my grip. I really like the tone and the build of this guitar. It feels comfortable in my hands and plays very well. I did buy some D'Addario NYXL 10/46 electric strings (total cost $12). I have not found a better Fender copy for under $400, and when I put the new strings on this one, I decided some mutant savant at the factory had assembled this one at home and sneaked it back into the factory. It's too good for $84 or even $384. ... show more

  • Great buy well worth the money
Great Body great finish, awesome neck, back of neck is a very smooth satin finish and is very fast, hardware is typical for inexpensive. Guitar it is worth the upgrade, tuner bridge strings. I can’t speak for all their guitars, but mine needed a set up. Action was very high at least for me it was. It Waight in at 7lb. and I would recommend it to anyone. Well worth the money. ... show more

  • I thought it was going to be a lemon but…
Ordered it just for fun, how can you pass up a cheap knockoff Strat? Well right out of the box it’s actually fairly well-tuned and didn’t need any work other than actually tuning it. Sounds great. Little buzz in the tone knob but I’ll clean that up easy. Great for a beginner or if you want to Frankenstein it up. Not kidding. 5 stars for cheap but also great. Bought a Tele model too, couldn’t pass it up. ... show more
