Description

Secure dinosaur paddocks and other areas but beware of the T. Rex; it doesn't follow rules! Build fences to protect paddocks from the attack and earn money by charging rent, but prepare for damaged property. Activate the gate to hear the Jurassic Park movie theme song or a dinosaur roar, which will determine how much money to collect. The last player with money when all others have gone bankrupt wins. The game also ends if the T. Rex damages all properties before they can be protected with fences or repaired. Then everyone loses! The Monopoly: Jurassic Park Edition game is for kids ages 8 and up.

This was a great game! Complicated for the younger kids but they still had fun. Introduces new ideas to Monopoly game that refresh the concept!

This is one of those products that gets enough perfectly right that the things that are a miss are a bit aggravating as you just know if could have been So Much Better. First, wonderful graphics, the pieces are well thought out, the game play is enough like classic monopoly to be familiar with just enough twists to be fun and interesting. Honestly, the game play itself is 5/5. All my complaints are with the design. 1. The pieces are people from the movie. They are solid, and when you look at them closely, identifiable. However, it’s had to tell them apart on the game board. We will be adding some paint to the bases to aid in that. 2. The “properties” are all dinosaurs and here’s were the biggest miss is for me. All the Dino’s from the first movie are represented, with highly imaginative names like Triceratops I, Triceratops II, and Triceratops III. I feel an opportunity to go dino-crazy was missed. We could have had Triceratops, Diabloceratops, and Protoceratops. This is definitely where marketing won. 3. The box is horribly organized. There’s not slots for the money, nowhere to put the dice, people, or cards. Terrible. This means set up take so much longer than it needs to as someone has to separate out money, cards. Etc. 4. The fences are awful. You did all this design work on the people, the T-rex, the sound gate, even the board and cards are looking good. Then you have these paper gates that barely remain standing. So disappointed as these easily could have been plastic bits like the hotels in regular monopoly. 5. The gate- wonderful concept, could have cut the song down by half. And I was expecting a much larger punishment for hearing the roar. We are considering house ruling that to you get nothing. The box made it seem so much worse that just getting slightly less money. All in all. The game is good. We like the game. My 8 year old got it for her birthday and we played it 3 times within 2 days of opening it and she’s asking for more! She doesn’t care about the issues us adults have with it. It’s got a T. rex and money, all the things she needs in a game. But for us board gamer adults, we are disappointed that this game which spent so much on licensing and the metal T. rex fell so flat on other things. It will probably not be something we’d pull out at grown up game night but will play the crap out of with the kids. ... show more

I am a huge dinosaur enthusiast & the moment I saw this game I bought it! It is crazy fun & everyone loved it! Having a different play method is super fun & makes it more complex & more entertaining. I highly recommend this game! The only thing I didn’t care for was the box it came in feels a bit cheap but that is not an issue. Everything else is nicely made & not cheap feeling.
