I used this kit the very first time I ever tried doing polygel on myself, and I have to say, it's not a short process! How good your nails end up looking will depend on how much time/care you put into the forming and shaping of the nails... which I have learned that I don't always have patience for. That said, it's a fantastic kit for beginners like me who have the time for a little trial-and-error. First off, I used the straight dual forms. I've never tried the curved ones because I feel like it would look less natural on my hands, and I don't want to put in the effort for something I won't love. Some random tips: * Don't use the clear if you're just starting out. It's hard to really tell how thick you've made it, so you're likely to end up with a lot of inconsistency, which makes for a bad manicure. Start with the light pink (#014) for your first time. * Don't forget to turn your nail over and brush with slip solution under the nail, or else it will be wayyyy too thick at the overhang. (Look closely at my thumb in the first pic -- it shouldn't look like that.) * If you use too little polygel, the nail will be too thin and it WILL break. * If you've squeezed too much polygel onto the dual form, just spread it out to make a super-long nail; you can trim/file it later. What's important is watching the thickness, not the length. When in doubt, go longer. As others have said, these nails are SO VERY STURDY when done right. Honestly, even when done wrong they're sturdy. I open cans with them with no issues. Overall, I think it's pretty fun to do my own nails, so I appreciate that this kit came with everything I needed to play around. The chrome powder is a fabulous touch! It doesn't even really look blue—just gives things a cool iridescent shimmer which you can see in the last pic, over white. (To apply powder, first do a clear top coat and cure it for 20-30 seconds; then rub the powder over your nail with a q-tip or eyeshadow applicator; then one more thin top coat, cured for the full 60.) I also recommend watching some how-to videos on YouTube before you start. And it's probably a good idea to get an e-file as well. I don't have one myself, so I can't speak to how much simpler that would make the process, but I bet it could be a game-changer. Have fun!

I did a lot of research before buying this kit. I was skeptical at first, but here is my honest review. It could be the perfect substitute for going to the salon or if you have an event coming up and can't book an appointment in time. BUT here are some tips and things to expect: ~1. TIME It will take you more time in the beginning to become confident (Be ready to spend at least an hour on each hand). Later you can multitask while waiting on the cure time. For perfect nails, you should do every finger separately in case you accidently bump the other nails.. ~2. INSTRUCTIONS The instruction are not as well written out as they could be. A trick I learned is use 2 thin layers of polygel instead of one; one to make an extension for your nail and one to the thickness that you want. If you make one thick layer without a paper form underneath, IT WILL COME OUT FROM UNDER YOUR NAIL when you are setting the form, making an unpleasant feeling like something is stuck under your nail. (don't worry, 2 layers doesn't affect the look or longevity.) ~3. HOW LONG DO THEY LAST It Depends. I made the mistake of forgetting to put the base coat on one nail, it fell off the very next day. It's been 2 weeks now, no problem. So how long it last isn't the product's fault, it's the process and the type of work you do with your hands every day. I know some girls' nails don't even last a week after the salon, mine start to break 2 weeks after going to the salon due to the physical work I do. TAKE THE TIME TO DO ALL THE STEPS so that you don't have to redo a nail that was poorly done. Wash hands with dish soap that removes oil well, buff the nail itself, cure entirely, etc. The nice part about this kit is if a nail is chipped early on, you can carefully take it off and redo it. ~4. IS IT MESSY, STICKY? Nah, not is my experience. For most nails, use a nail form that is 1 size bigger than the one that fits your nail to give the gel room (or else it squeezes out of the sides). Using less material is better than too much. ~5. DOES IT COME WITH A LAMP? Unfortunately, it doesn't. A good LED/UV lamp is absolute. You can purchase one separately off of Amazon or in one of the other ModelOnes nail kits. (get a fully enclosed one, the really small ones are weaker/longer cure time) ~6. HOW MUCH MATERIAL IS IN EACH TUBE. Depending on your desired length, (mine are short as you can see) I think it will last me 3 sets in total from one tube. You can buy more of the color you like separately! ~7. DESCRIPTION My package came in a good timely manner, as described, and with no damages to any products. No allergic reactions. The should point out that there is no lamp in this specific kit however. P.S. I know my nails didn't turn out that pretty, but hopefully yours will be better with these tips ;) Girls, this is fun, and practice makes perfect. If you like tedious, creative work, try it. It can even be an activity you can do with your girlfriends together.
