I was able to melt a couple of pounds of aluminum at once no problem. Took about 12 to 15 minutes. Don’t be afraid to turn the heat up. The red regulator dial was opened up about one full turn. The large crucible is pretty heavy, so I ordered a different set of tongs in order to lift it out of the furnace and pour it horizontally without standing anywhere close to right above any of the heat. I am sand, casting a crank case, in aluminum, for a 1/5 scale, gnome, rotary engine. Wish me luck…!

Works exactly as it should. Perfect for melting scrap aluminum and copper. Seller customer service was excellent. Highly recommend this product. Only took a few minutes to set up. Make sure to cure crucible and mold before you go high heat!!! Trapped moisture doesn't like high heat!

Heated it for the third time today and did get my job done and the furnace looks no worse for wear. No complaints. The crucible that comes with it, however, totally disintegrated on the third use. I had to attempt to pour my copper with the crucible falling apart. Edit: the crucible damage was most likely my own fault as I’ve since learned how to properly temper a crucible. I just didn’t do this one correctly.
