This shoe is a very good hiking shoe for kids. Unlike kids shoe-store brands, this shoe is well-designed and beefy enough to support and cushion kids' feet so they'll learn to enjoy their early hiking experiences. Everybody wins.

My littlest one needed appropriate shoes for hiking and was starting his first adventure with us. He was used to regular sneakers and we noticed on regular wood trails that he was having a hard time so we decided to get him his first hiking boots to tackle a small mountain we planned on climbing. The grip is great and provides stability. The colors are awesome for a young boy and after a long hike he was still comfortable in the shoes. He was a bit sore but it felt better to him and was ready to go again. I would probably suggest having the kids wear the shoes around a bit before a long hike though to break in the shoe. It has a unique shoe design. Mostly it's good but the bands that are supposed to look like laces are actually ribbon pieces that have shiny foil, which draws attention to them. You can see what they look like in the pictures. The other thing is that the black area is made out of velvet. It's odd for a boy's shoe. They are well constructed but they really need to reconsider using a fabric other than black velvet and ribbon on the shoes. Just my opinion. My son says that rocks get in them easier than his Sketchers did. He dumped out about 15 not-small pebbles when he got home from school. I don't know what he's doing to collect so many rocks in his shoe. Overall he says the shoes don't hurt his feet and as long as they don't let him slip once it gets icy out, we'll be happy. ... show more

    • Grandson loved these shoes!
He loved that they are warm and fairly water resistant... no wading in the river but great for puddles and rainstorms! He also loved that the velcro makes them easy to get on and adjust. They lasted until he outgrew them!

Bought these for my grandson and have been great so far. They are easy to get on and off so that he can do it himself. The shoes also seem to have helped with his walking in that he no longer shuffles but picks his feet up when he steps now. He loves to run and jump in these shoes. He hasn't tried out the water resistance yet, so not sure about that. One thing I like is that dirt or mud doesn't seem to cake up on the shoes so they are easy to clean. ... show more

I bought these for my daughter to use while hiking and at her forest school. They fit very well and have an adjustable cord and velcro closure. These boots are not durable but work fine for light activity. The bottom rubberized parts started to fall apart almost immediately. The fabric has completely detached from the faux leather pieces after a few months of use. They are not water resistant at all. I would say that if your child is only going to use them for light activity they would be fine. I wouldn't recommend for very active kids. ... show more

My toddler DESTROYES regular shoes within a week alone. We're working on his proper running still, he kinda drags his feet still. But so far holding shoes are the ONLY shoe he doesn't absolutely destroy right away. I've found this brand and it's affordable for me to get news for my kid that meet the quality & durability for my kiddo. The previous pair lasted until he outgrew it a whole year! So I went from needing to get my kid new shoes every week to only needing this one shoe until he outgrew it which saved me money, time and stress! I purched this boot for cold weather & rainy days. And he has the regular low shoe for all year around wear. Absolutely recommend these especially for the wide toe box for healthy foot development!
