  • Super cute boots! Details on sizing and color...
Size: 9 Color: Dusty Brown
I usually wear an 8.5 (perfect fit, also 8.5 in Minnetonka brand moccasins) or 9 (if no half sizes), so I went ahead and ordered a size 9. The boots are a little on the larger/longer size compared to what I'd usually wear, but I think the 8 would be a tad too small. Feet kind of swell a little after long hikes too, and if I want to wear thick socks for the upcoming cold winter, then the 9 is just fine. These boots also keep your feet very toasty, despite not being lined with anything at all. I wanted to order the "brown" color but accidentally ordered "dusty brown", but I'm ok with the color. Dusty Brown has more grayish/colder hues to it compared to the Minnetonka-brand brown suede color which is definitely warmer. Both hues are great for autumn! And also, if you are planning on wearing these anywhere other than the inside of a building, do yourself a favor and protect the suede! Get a nice spray-on waterproofing sealer and maintain it every couple of months. Now having said that, I did use an entire can of spray on these boots plus my pair of moccasins. ... show more

  • Love them!
Size: 5 Color: Dusty Brown
So far, these boots have been everything I was expecting. I've been trying to wear minimalist style shoes and I spent the summer/fall wearing Soft Star mocs. With winter on the horizon, I knew I would need shoes that were warmer and that wouldn't take so long to dry if they got wet (my mocs take ~3 days because of the sheepskin lining). Having had a roommate with similar boots, I chose these. Having worn no shoes/moccasins for ~6 months, my toes have a spread out. Even so, the toe box of these boots is more than wide enough for me. The color matched the picture very closely and the sizing was perfect. They are absolutely comfortable. I had my doubts about the insole, and I'm still not sure I like it. It's nothing special, just extra cushioning. What I like least about it is the slight slipperiness. I sometimes feel my foot slide if I'm walking on inclines. I imagine it would be worse with socks, but I haven't tried yet. I was a little conscious of the nubbed sole for the first day, but I hardly notice it anymore. The sole is fairly thin and very flexible. The ground feel is definitely nowhere near that of my mocs but I still think that there is a good amount. I can easily tell what kind of surface I'm walking on, I can feel it when I step on objects, and I like the traction. The boots are definitely comfortable. Being a fencer, I have asymmetrically muscled legs, but these boots fit like a glove. I sprayed them with Camp Dry right out of the box and I highly recommend everyone do the same. I've been able to wear these boots out in a true downpour (thanks to Hurricane Sandy) and there was no moisture penetration except through the seams. I've heard of people lining their shoes with duct tape on the inside of the seams, but I'll wait until I see how they do in snow first. The seams are a little uncomfortable. I suspect that this is due to the unevenness of the seams because there are only two spots where I have problems and they don't happen on both boots. One is on the outer edge of my right foot, the seam pokes my foot just below the pinky toe. The seams are stiff and ridged because of the stitching so I'm hoping that with time the leather will soften. On the left boot - and I think someone else mentioned they had this happen - the back ankle seam rubs the back of my ankle when I walk. It wasn't enough to cause blistering, and I mention it only because I was able to come up with a solution. If this happens to you, you can put a little piece of duct tape on the boot where it rubs and it won't irritate the skin anymore - yay! The only negative thing I have to say is that not all of the lace holes were punched and not all of them were lined up. From a manufacturing perspective, they were right to punch the holes before assembling the boots, but they should have some kind of quality control to ensure the holes line up and that all the holes are punched. Anyways, it was easy to fix. Get yourself an exacto knife (the sharper, the better) and cut out little circles. Don't try to punch through (unless you have an awl); that's bad for the leather, it will be a pain to get your lace through, and you'll wear through your laces faster. One final thing - before buying these boots, I read a lot of reviews which said it takes 10+ minutes to get them on. Um, NO. Loosen the laces when you take them off and you will be able to easily slip them on the next time. I wear my jeans with these and it only takes me 1 minute, MAX, to slip these on and that's only because I'm picky about how the laces hang. There are a million +1 tips online about tucking jeans into your boots - read a couple and save yourself some time. Hope this helps! Happy shoe-picking! ... show more

  • If you’re a half-size, buy one size UP; no arch support
Size: 7 Color: Black
I had to have these! They’re just gorgeous and so retro. I love the style, and the leather is decent quality. I’m a 7.5 and I ordered a 7–big mistake, I also have bunions, so that made it even worse. Fortunately, with a lot of patience, a good cedar shoe stretcher, thick wool, socks, and some shoe stretching spray, I was able to get these to fit okay. They’re a bit loose in the heel, but I have very narrow heels too I noticed a few reviews mentioned that they are narrow in the calves. They probably are compared to a lot of boots but these are moccasins, not Frye boots. For me, with narrow calves, it’s a dream come true to find boots that fit nicely through the calves instead of looking and feeling too loose. But my calves are too often too narrow for most boots, so this part worked out well for me. Still, that narrow calf is another reason that most people are better off ordering UP a size, rather than down. Yes, they’re moccasins so they have no arch support at all. You can fix that by getting Dr. Scholls inserts. Other than that, I really do like these. They’re warm and I love the look. It just took a lot of nights leaving the shoe stretch insert inside with thick wool socks, but they’re wide enough now. The suede is good quality, and so is the stitching. I’m happy with these and I think the price is fair. ... show more

  • Color is not as pictured but still cute
Size: 9 Color: Dusty Brown
I ordered these boots and another short bootie in the dusty brown. These came first and had immediately started the return process because I thought they sent the wrong color but when the other pair came the next day they were the same color ….. so I don’t know if they are just out of the dusty brown leather or the lighting is off in the picture ( or a number of other reasons) but at this time the ‘dusty brown’ I received was just the brown. I was disappointed, but decided to keep them and either keep them as they are because I’ve gotten many compliments on them or maybe I can dye them myself . As for the fit , I’ve only tried them on twice in the two days I’ve had them . The size seems true , but they do rub a bit . According to other reviews they should feel like suede socks after breaking them in . So until then I will bandage in places they rub and hope for the best . Since these are supposed to feel like suede socks …. They have absolutely 0 arch support lol . . . I have high arches so perhaps I will look into little sticker supports or something ? These are the first pair of non orthodox shoes I’ve purchased since being a teen soooo we'll see how they go . Not sure how I feel about having to break them in now that they’re on my feet . But I can add to the review after I have done so . 🤞 Also I wear a size 9 , I ordered the 9. Size feels true as of day 2 . I gave three stars because the color was not as pictured , and I have to break them in . This may change after having them for a while but this is just my first impression. ... show more
