This lathe is what I had been looking for over the past couple of years. Ideal for those who have used larger versions and who are familiar with the crucial elements of a metal lathe, e.g. centering, run-out, etc. It is a great addition to any serious home shop or even for smaller work in larger commercial shops. Once the lathe checked out per the manual, I went right to aligning the tail stock, after adjusting the hold-down clamp. The first job using the lathe was to cut a sufficient thread-relief at the top of the provided socket head to give 1mm more lateral adjustment of the tailstock to put it on center. The lathe performed well for this and subsequent jobs. Just remember- it's all about feed and speed, so not too fast and not too much for a given material. I appreciated that the mounting holes for the feet are threaded, as I preferred to mount directly to a heavy bench, bolting from below. This was tricky, not knowing the spacing of these holes (M6) but the tray served as a template. Also, if your bench is uneven, don't overtighten the bolts. You'll need to shop for a suitable drill chuck, bits, etc. but if you like doing that sort of thing, have fun! The crate was sufficient but mine arrived a bit banged up, some crushing of the internal packing, but the lathe was not damaged and works great!
