  • For handle inlays on knife handles this is a good set_up
I make custom knives and often add a segmented handle, where the handle itself, is cut into several pieces in a pattern that when glued together create a totally different and beautiful handle. For this to work, each of the inlays must be cut in very accurate, precise angles. When gluing together if the cut is not 100% perfect, there will be gaps, and even the tiniest gap looks awful and ruins an otherwise beautiful knife handle. This is an inexpensive tool that works. When I first got it I used the saw that came with it. It worked but was way too slow. So I incorporated a Shizan Japanese pull saw, that I purchased from Amazon for cutting dovetail joints to make drawers. At first, I was concerned the kerf (width of the blade would be too wide) but it was not. This sped up each cut and made life much easier. Plus the blade is longer, allowing me to add stroke length to each saw pull. Still somewhat with the more dense woods. I use many different and exotic woods. For example, where do you think Ironwood gets its name. Because its tough. In fact, it broke two teeth on my pull saw. But, the point is I stumbled into a way to give me confidence in making segmented knife handles. ... show more

  • Good tool for very fine miter work.
This tool did the job perfectly for what I needed. Very small, very fine miter work. I was mitering moldings for an antique soundboard harpsichord. It is - however - a very basic tool, just channel aluminum stock, and a very cheap fine-tooth saw. saw very gently, with back and forth motion and let the saw cut gently. Don't force it heavily. The miter box has 90 degree, 45 degree in one direction, and 60/30 degree in the other direction. I wish it had 45 degrees in both directions, I had to turn the molding upside down for the inverse cut, which was a bit awkward, but it worked. I would say the saw will last for one or two projects. Needless to say don't grind the teeth of the saw down into the channel aluminum after the cut is complete. ... show more

  • Precise miters for small wood projects
When they say mini miter that is exactly what is. It is very precise at cutting small pieces like door and window casings for doll houses, small picture frames, and many hobby projects. The back saw is very fine toothed and fits the guides perfectly.

  • Great for precise, small cuts
Needed a small miter saw to cut plastic jamb receivers for newly installed windows. Was looking for a fine tooth so the plastic wouldn't crack during cutting, & precision cuts with no slop. This fits the bill perfectly. I won't use it often but it's one of those tools that, when you need it, there are few substitutes. ... show more

  • Great for Small Crafts/DIYs
This is a good option for small woodworking or leather projects although it's kind of difficult to keep the metal piece from sliding so I would recommend getting some anti-slip stips for the bottom of it.
