  • A perfect gift!
Color: Blue
I bought this for my grandson’s 8th birthday, it was a BIG hit! Not only was he so happy to play with it, but all his friends were in line waiting to use it too! The parents all put that on their Christmas list and told me what a great toy!

You must provide the prizes to load in the game. Different prizes can make it entertaining for lots of age levels. I put small rubber ducks, individually wrapped chocolate truffles, bounce balls, tiny stuffed animals and a few other items, to give each player something of interest to try to win. At one event we had the children earn the tokens that would allow them to play the claw machine. We made sure everyone managed to win a token. ... show more

  • not terrible
Color: Blue
this might have just been me getting too excited and having higher hopes about this little machine but i ordered little squishy toys that come in those round plastic containers (like you’d get in a quarter machine) to put inside for a birthday present. first off- when you open this, you have to unscrew the entire top just to take the zip tie off of the claw, which is just annoying and tedious. from reading other reviews i knew it would be loud so i can’t really complain about that but it would be nice to have a volume switch. now on to the goods- the 2” toys fit inside of the machine no problem however they kept sliding out of the claw bc there’s just really no grip at all. without the plastic containers i was able to pick up the toys, however i could only put about 5 inside to have enough room to open the claw. also going on what other reviews said about not being able to pick up candy, my overall opinion is this: its not terrible for squishy toys but it’s not at all worth the $60 price point. hope this helps! ... show more

  • It’s way too loud but there’s an easy fix
Color: Blue
The media could not be loaded. I was a little weary after reading some of the mixed review but decided to give it a shot anyway since my kids have been obsessed with claw machines lately. It arrived in good condition and the only difficult part about setting it up was getting the little baggie off of the claw part within the machine, but it was doable with some patience. Just don’t pull the little twist tie all the way out until you’ve removed it because that’s what’s holding it up close to the little access door. Like other reviewers said, this thing is *obnoxiously* loud with no volume control. I attempted to put tape over the speaker on the bottom but it didn’t not help even a little, so I took another reviewers advice and removed the whole bottom of the machine and detached the two wires running to the speaker. It still works fine and lights up, and I imagine the reason the music was so loud in the first place was because the little mechanism is pretty loud on its own, with the chain moving and such. One of the coolest features the machine has is a little laser inside of the prize door, which detects if a prize is dropped before the music stops. The music gets faster and faster and if the toy drops, you get a cheer, but if the laser beam is not interrupted it does a losing “womp womp” sound instead. That doesn’t matter now that I’ve disconnected the sound. The little plastic coins work fine but do get stuck and have to be pushed through with another coin, but my son had discovered that it doesn’t need to be inserted all the way in the first place. Just put the coin in half way and it hits the little switch and activates the game. The only downside other than the loud music is that the up and down control does not have a limit, so if the crane is all the way raised and you continue to push the lever upward, it starts to lake an awful noise and I imagine that with too many times it might either break the chair or burn out the motor, so definitely something to watch if it’s being used by little kids who can’t determine when to stop holding the lever when the claw reaches its highest point. Same goes for the downward motion, if you hold it down too long the chain goes slack and had to be re-wound for a minute before it starts to elevate again. So far the claw has easily picked up bouncy balls and those tiny squishys, and I also managed to grab a snack sized candy bar once but it wasn’t easy so I took those out. I may try some gum or other little candies in there. It would be nice if the prize door had a flap in front of it, the bouncy balls go flying out if you aren’t ready to catch it. All in all I’m pleased with the purchase and know it will be a hit at my twins’ tenth birthday party tomorrow. ... show more

  • A volume knob would make this a five star review.
Color: Blue
The media could not be loaded. It's quite good for the price and the form is very practical for home use. I just have a couple notes. 1. This thing needs a volume knob. It's ungodly loud and just needs a single potentiometer to fix the issue. 2. The prize shoot needs a flappy door. One of the more fun features of this toy is the light sensor that detects a prize drop. Unfortunately it's possible for a prize to drop out and not interrupt the beam, thus not triggering the winning fanfare. The addition of an outward facing flap door would both increase the function of the prize shoot, and add a nice bit of detail/authenticity. 3. The prize area is not lighted. The front corner columns feature colored lights which blink during operation. These face outward and blink in time with the music (until the music speeds up at the end of 60 seconds). The addition of a few interior LEDs would again improve the function and look of this toy greatly. 4. The unit runs on 3 D Cell batteries with no option to plug into mains power. Another very cheap component which could be easily be added to the existing design. I should say that other than the volume knob, it's quite a functional thing. I suspect that the folks who made this are well aware of the shortcomings and likely had to engineer for affordability. I would add however, that I would happily pay more for a premium version of this crane game with the above added features. ... show more

It will only pick up small candy or candy with no weight to it. Grandson was happy, nana was a little disappointed. Sounds were great. Appearance excellent.
