Beautiful! Each piece is identical to the one next to it. Lightly brushed handles. The grip is better than most. They are heavy. You could dig in the garden and it would be hard to bend these. They are a lifetime investment you won't be sorry for. This is a hand me down. Your grandmothers set. And her mothers set. I see no reason they won't last 500 years. Best decision I ever made. Mikasa Satin loft comes with several huge spoons for cooking or serving. Both the drain type and plain dish em out type. Butter knife included and Meat fork as well. Very Nice Set - but Personal Preference drives the decision. Weights of Pieces included in Review

We tried both this set and the Oneida Moda set. They are both excellent sets and it was a difficult choice. We loved them both. In the end, after splitting a few hairs, we selected the Moda set primarily due to what we felt was its more interesting pattern. As an FYI, the Mikasa pieces are significantly larger than what might be considered a typical set. That's not a criticism - just a heads up. The pieces are on the large size. One other differentiating factor worth noting is that the corners on the Oneida handles are more rounded; which we felt was a bit more comfortable. As noted, it was a tough decision and the Mikasa set is a 5 star product as well. Its a nice looking set and the quality is evident. I noticed that in the Alexa queries that it appears many folks want to know the weights of the pieces and I wanted to share that info here for both sets. Oneida: Dinner Fork: 68 grams; Salad Fork: 49 grams; Soup Spoon: 56 grams; Teaspoon: 44 grams; Butter Knife: 114 grams Mikasa: Dinner Fork: 70 grams; Salad Fork: 56 grams; Soup Spoon: 69 grams; Teaspoon: 42 grams; Butter Knife: 115 grams ... show more

Simple, elegant, quality flatware.
Style: Satin Loft Size: 65 Piece Set
My husband and I had been looking for just the right set of flatware to replace our old set, which, after 30 years, had become a bit the worse for wear. This set definitely does not disappoint. First of all, each piece is even prettier in person than they are in the pictures. The satin finish is very simple and very elegant- perfect for everyday use, but "dressy" enough for a dinner party. Second, they feel so nice to hold. They are a nice weight and are well-balanced- you can feel the quality in each piece. Third, after running them through the dishwasher, they held up beautifully. I will say that if you have hard water like I do, you may want to use a soft towel to give them a quick buffing before putting them away, but it took very little effort to make them shine. Mikasa makes a very quality product, and at this price, I would not think twice. We like them so much that we immediately ordered the matching steak knives and can't wait to use them for our Thanksgiving dinner! ... show more

Nice Flatware with a Couple of Caveats

We were ready for new flatware, and I did extensive research on options. We were looking for a simple, clean look; a satin finish; and not super expensive. This Mikasa set seemed to fit the bill and had many good reviews, showing up on "best flatware" lists. I really like the look and feel of the pieces. It feels like a real upgrade from my 15+ year old set. However, there are a few issues: 1) Unfortunately small spots of rust began showing up on a couple of knives within 6 weeks. So we have resigned outselves to not putting the knives in the dishwasher. To prevent further rust, we immediately hand wash and dry the knives. 2) The teaspoons are small compared to the larger size of the other pieces. They are short--the length of a coffee spoon rather than a traditional teaspoon. We've gotten used to it, but it would have been great if they were slightly bigger and longer. 3) We got the satin finish in hopes that it wouldn't show fingerprints as much as our old shiny flatware. Unfortunately, that is not the case (and is probably the case for all satin-finish flatware). All that being said, we like them and they are good quality for the price. ... show more

Quality more like the Original Mikasa — fork tines & spoon bowls have smooth rounded edges...
Style: Cocoa Blossom Size: 65 Piece Set
Cocoa Blossom's quality *appears to be* more like the Original Mikasa — fork tines & spoon bowls have smooth rounded edges... Mikasa's quality suffered greatly when they moved their manufacturing out of Korea. We had a set of Classico glossy c.1999 that had a smaller teaspoon, matching long handle beverage spoons, a pretty punched/punctured salad fork, and the usual additional pieces — with all edges being smooth & rounded. Unfortunately, most of it was pilfered by a mover/van line in North American. (Luckily a few daily-use pieces were with us.) With Classico discontinued we replaced it with Mikasa Serena. Serena has sharp edged forks tines and spoon bowls — it's awful, it made me reluctant to purchase Mikasa again. Cocoa Blossom's quality is more like the Original Classico glossy (the satin Classico with its shovel size teaspoons that came later isn't as well designed or as finally crafted as the original). Time will tell if Cocoa Blossom is of equal quality, if it proves to have issues — If. It. Rusts. Grrrr — I will update this review. ...and Cash in on that lifetime warranty. Cocoa Blossom is glossy not satin. (Satin isn't capable of looking or feeling perfectly clean.) CB teaspoons have the necessary oval shape for my better half; unfortunately, they are in the newer larger size which is disappointing for me. The CB dinner/soup spoons are large and make great serving spoons. The CB knives have solid handles, not hollow. The CB handle design relatively inoffensive** and is consistent throughout the set. The shape and width of the handle will be helpful to younger & older people who have dexterity challenges where as a small, narrow, or round handle could be problematic. (But aren't they cool?) At this point, my better half likes them, I like them, I would purchase Cocoa Blossom again. Really, really relieved that Mikasa's quality appears to be more like it was in 1999 and less like ~2016. **The smooth rounded edges of the pieces, spoon bowl size and shape, and the handle shape were deciding factors in choosing the Cocoa Blossom design. Neither of us had a strong preference about the actual handle design as long as it didn't look like it belonged to our grandmothers.
