I bought a set of these to supplement my Midland MXT 275 unit that I keep in the Jeep. These are used by friends who come with me and we need to keep contact between vehicles or jeeps. They do not have as much gain as the Midland MXT 275, on the other hand the people with the handheld unit said they could still hear me talking from the Midland MXT 275, but those with the handheld units did not have enough gain to transmit back to me at distance so I could hear their response. These are great to have to throw as a pair to a main unit that you have in your own vehicle to allow other vehicles traveling with you to have communication but you’re probably limited to a few miles, and also of course if there are hills and valleys in between. If you’re going be doing serious off roading you really should use Midland’s MXT 275 with a good antenna (up to 50 miles with big antenna). It’s the recommended GMRS unit by Jeep. My purpose and purchasing these handheld Midlands was to compliment my main unit for those who don’t have radios and we are traveling in a caravan to keep contact with people following me. ... show more

This is my fourth set of Midland radios, over the past 15 years. We have moved to the woods and also take cruises so the GX T 3000 GMRS radio will enhance our ability to me communicate. I’ve always been pleased and proud of the past Midland models and this one has several advanced features.

These walkie talkies are SO FUN!!! We hunted for days for "THE BEST" walkie talkies to use on our RV trip with 2 other families. We are rookies to RV camping so we eventually asked our camping "expert" what walkie talkies they use. They recommended these. So we purchased them and the other family did too. They proved INVALUABLE as we drove from Arizona to MT Rushmore. The ability communicate between our vehicles while on the road was essential to our success and planning stops together. Wifi access was non-existent in some of the mountain ranges but these walkie talkies worked perfectly between the cars. It was SO MUCH fun to talk with each other and point out sites along the way. When one of the vehicles needed to make a stop they could just click on the walkie talkie and all families could hear the message at the same time. When we got to the campground we had to find different channels as several other campers were on our channel but we always found an available channel. One family used these for long hikes with the kids so they could always stay connected. When we got home we found the walkie talkies to continue to be a great support of our life. My husband had surgery and was in a room that I couldn't hear him when he needed something. I gave him the Walkie Talkie and he could quickly get to me. We also use them on our large property when he is outside. I know you think you can just use your phone but these are faster and you communicate instantly. I know I’m not using this radio to its full potential but knowing it has all the bells and whistles is a comfort. Not only does it have excellent audio but it’s easy to use. A huge selling point is its ability to charge through the cable plugged into the wall or vehicle when the docking station is not available. These radios are NOT "repeater capable". That description is entirely misleading. There is no ability to set this radio up to communicate effectively with a repeater, no offset capabilities and no Tone capabilities. Look elsewhere if you want a radio capable of utilizing any repeaters. This radio only operates in simplex mode, that's all. ... show more
