Comes with only fine grit paper but need full assortment 60, 80,120,150. Could make my own , however, using double side tape and coarse paper cut to size. I make keepsake boxes and often need to sand in tight spaces to remove glue squeeze out or to get where other sanders couldn't reach. Too bad the engineers who designed this aren't woodworkers or they'd know that. If they bother to ask I would also tell them that straight tips would help get where the angled ones couldn't.     • Good for VERY small tasks…
…or A LOT of sandpaper changes. I’m giving this four stars because if you’re diligent, you can clean up small tight spaces with this. I’m a woodworker and had a pretty elaborate piece, tight clearance, with some glue lines that needed cleanup. It should be noted I was working with hardwood, walnut specifically. It did do the job. I was able to clean up spaces I couldn’t get sandpaper into otherwise. But it’s worth pointing out that it took a HUGE amount of their sandpaper pieces to do it. It’s best to think about what you can do in terms of square millimeters of space and seconds of sanding time per piece. This stuff wears to the base paper in seconds against hardwood. I’m not sure what the sanding medium and adhesives they use are, but they don’t last long. But, I had such tight spaces in this design that it was worth it for what I needed to do. Just plan on buying a boatload of their paper. That part feels like a ripoff though. Just worth knowing what you’re getting into for the money. If you have a large surface area to detail, this is probably not the right choice. ... show more

There’s a reason there aren’t more options out for something like this & it’s because with such a small amount of abrasive media, it’s either going to clog or wear out very quickly due to the short stroke of the tool. Just like an oscillating multi tool bit, where you’ll wear the teeth out in the middle very quickly, the same applies here. Also the arm pivots at the tools attachment point then extends out towards the surface where you put the abrasive so it’s not going to contact the surface of what you’re sanding uniformly or in a flat manner, it’s going to hit the edges mostly. If you’re strugling to understand what I’m trying to illustrate, think of a pendulum swinging back and forth and that’s how it works. ... show more

There were no reviews on this sander and so I took a chance and tried it out. There is a Proxxon product that is similar... but that one needs an additional power source (transformer) which brings the cost in line with this brand. There were two primary reasons that I opted for this one over the Proxxon. A few years back I had purchased one of Proxxons mini 'chainsaw' carvers and was totally unimpressed with the quality. Small plastic pieces fell off.... and the switch was positioned where my hand would inadvertently flip the switch off during carving sessions. Secondly.... many of the reviewers of the Proxxon sander commented it that they had to send it back one, or even two times, before they received one that worked. So.... I was really hoping that this sander would reciprocate in and out... instead of side to side..... but side to side is what it does. Helpful... but not as much as an in and out motion would be. If the sander would have reciprocated in and out... I was hoping to adapt some carving files to fit. Still... while it will never be my dominant sanding tool... there are certainly occasions where this comes in handy. Currently working on carving a 'cage' and this has helped to sand the grid of bars. Of course.... an 'in and out' motion would be much better for this project. The side to side does NOT produce a crisp corner. The sander warms up a bit after an hour or so.... but not uncomfortably. I usually need a break by then anyway. I used my own coarse grit sandpaper.... by cutting the shapes from the adhesive backed rounds intended for a disc sander. The angled attachments are the only ones I find useful..... and I will probably adapt the straight ones by bending or extending. I don't find the little machine to be noisy.... something along the lines of barber shears. I'm hoping it stands the test of time. We'll see. ... show more

    • They just charge way too much
I needed this specific kind of oscillating detail sander for my business, so I paid the high price because I didn't have a choice. That seems to be their whole business model honestly, there's no way this thing should cost so much. It's essentially a plug in beard trimmer with a plastic toolhead swapped in. It works, but it isn't powerful and time will tell if it is durable. It gets the job done, but slowly, and only just. I'd happily give it 5 stars at a more appropriate price point between $20-$40. ... show more

    • Great tool
I used to borrow my neighbor's micro sander until I found I was using it all the time so I bought one for myself. I use it to smooth resin and filament 3D prints. Since the sanding discs are expensive, I glued a velcro pad to the sanding tip and then laser cut some hook and loop sandpaper in various shapes to fit the tips. This did not work well because the velcro did not seem to hold the paper well enough due to the high amount of vibrations. I ended up taking some quality 1/2" double stick tape and put that on various grits of sandpaper. I cut the paper into 1/2 inch strips. Now when I need to replace, I take off the backing, apply to tip, then cut off from the strip. This has been working for me for the last 6 months. ... show more

    • Gives your fingertips a break
I use this sander for CnC cleanup work, mostly on pine. You can get into pretty small areas with it, but because it uses a side to side motion you sometimes have to be a little creative. You can remove material with it using 120 grit paper, and gentle pressure is best. I found that a small piece of painter’s tape, doubled over to make it double-sided, will hold sandpaper on the flat-bottomed extensions (it’s not as good on the cylinder-shaped extension). This clearly is not a tool for heavy duty use or hard pressure, so I expect that it should last for a while. I do wish the extensions had a small bag to keep them all together; a case or bag for the entire tool set would be phenomenal. ... show more
