I swear every year my foot is spreading and my toe area is getting wider and wider. I finally bit the bullet and looked for a wide-width boot and these are wonderful! So comfortable for my toe box. I needed a boot that would give me some ankle support and saw these Merrills. I picked the granite color because I didn't want to pay extra for a color choice and they look great. I'm a size 8 but always size up 1 full size in hiking boots. I like wearing thick cushiony socks and that has always worked for me. I read sooooo many reviews for womens hiking boots and a ton of them pointed to this boot. I did the prime try before you buy program so that I was able to order a bunch of sizes and then send back the ones that didnt fit and keep the one that fit best. I'm usually a size 5.5 in shoes and I ended up keeping the 6. They are super comfy and warm in cold weather but not too heavy or hot for warm weather. Love this hiking boot! Merrell makes a great boot. They fit as if they were made just for me! There is no break in period with these boots. I actually wear them as a work shoe because they are so comfortable. They are better than the tennis shoes I work in. The fit is true to size. I wear wool socks too. So take that into consideration, they are merino wool socks. These may be too hot come summer time. For now they are great! ... show more

I hike in on the trails in the mountains. Bought these for the hikes. haven't tried them yet. But they are warm and give support for your ankles. Usually wear a size 9.5 sized up to a 10 wide and they fit perfectly. Will report back on durability and waterproofness.. . EDIT UPDATE 1/24/2024. used them to day on a 4 mile hike on a most difficult trail . Trail was snow covered and slushy. These are truly waterproof. Kept my feet warm and dry.
