I purchased the Merrell Women's Moab 3 Mid Waterproof Hiking Boot in size 8.5. For the past three years I have been hiking in a pair of Merrell “Salida” Mid boots - a model that is no longer available. So as my old pair began showing serious signs of wearing out (after an awesome high mileage life) I began the task of looking for a replacement. Full disclosure: I have a pair of Oboz hiking shoes in the rotation (for less challenging terrain), but I have found the ankle support of Merrell’s line of boots to be very good so wanted to look at Merrell first in replacing the mid-height pair. I read a lot of reviews about the Moab model. When I read that the heel support and vibram sole had been upgraded on the Moab 3, I decided to order a pair (in my usual size). They arrived promptly and the order was accurate. I put the Merrell Women's Moab 3 Mid Waterproof Hiking Boot to the test almost right away, putting fifteen miles or so on them in two hikes in the semi-rugged terrain of the Sage Creek wilderness in the Badlands of South Dakota. I paired them with a good pair of wool hiking socks, BTW. I am pleased to report that as advertised, the Moab 3 boots were indeed “comfortable right out of the box”. They fit true-to-size. They stayed tied (!), performed well, offered great ankle support and a decently cushioned ride. At the end of my hikes the leg fatigue was at a minimum (a sure sign of good support) and my feet were blister-free. I am happy enough with this purchase that I ordered a second pair of the same model when I saw Amazon was offering them at a hard-to-pass-up price. I will set the second pair back for the future. In the meantime this happy hiker will be putting some serious mileage into my new Merrell Women's Moab 3 Mid Waterproof Hiking Boot. I highly recommend these boots! ... show more

I bought these specifically for a trip to Ireland. I read all the reviews because shoe sizing can be finicky when ordering online. A lot of reviews for these said to size up a half size. I decided to just get my normal size 10 and see how it fit. I can now say, with full experience, size up a half!! The reviews were right. The 10 fit perfect, but my toes were just barely not touching the toe box. With a thicker sock, it became snug. So I returned the pair (thank you Amazon for your amazing customer service) and sized up, and also got it in a wide. Why wide? Well, while the toe box was perfect, anyone who has been hiking knows your feet are going to shift in your shoe with terrain. Not a good thing, but not a bad thing. I happen to have a normal size foot and never purchase anything in wide unless i am looking for a little more play in my toe box. If you want a snug fit, get your normal size, if you want a thicker sock and some play in your toe box so you toes don't rub or get blisters, get the wide. It's not really much wider than the normal size. Also, this granite color is pretty awesome! I thought it would be darker gray, but I was pleasantly surprised with the lighter gray and some pop of blue in there. I did try the same shoe in the altitude color which was cute, but a little too sky baby blue for my liking. Anyway, these have great ankle support (I've had 3 surgeries on my Achilles and brevis tendons, so support is everything) and they lace up nice and tight. There is good arch support and the heel cup is comfortable. I have a pair of moab 2 vents and these are pretty comparable in comfortability. I also want to note that these are pretty light weight wise. I don't feel like I'm clunking around or dragging my feet. I was actually surprised at how nicely these feel weight wise.     • Super comfortable hiking boots
Size: 7 Color: Altitude
These boots are by far the most comfortable hiking boots I have worn. Went on a 7 mile hike down a rocky path, over boulders, up rock formations using a ropes, thru small creeks, and brings you to the Colorado River. My feet stayed warm, dry, and comfy. Tossed my other boots out! Highly recommend.

Just like older versions of the Moab, this boot fits true to size. If you order a wide, you get a wide (unlike many other hiking boot brands that sell "wides" that are only a centimeter wider than a medium). Very comfy, no break in period required.

I have wide feet and these women's size 11 fit well. I tested them walking around my neighborhood on concrete and found them comfortable. They feel great on intended terrain of grass, field, trail ect.

These boots are PHENOMENAL! (And look so cute?!) They are like walking on air, so much support and super ergonomic. We hiked 10 miles one day and I had zero irritation, zero soreness, zero blisters. And we were hiking on some pretty steep and rugged terrain. (All other people I was walking with had some form of irritation or blisters forming by the end). I purchased these for my trip to Alaska and I was mad at myself for not getting them ordered in time to wear them around home a few times and break them in. I was really worried about how they were going to fit and feel. I even packed an extra box of blister Band-Aids and I'm happy to say I didn't need a single one. My first hike was a 5 mile black diamond. That was the first time I wore them. My feet felt fantastic at the end of that hike. Not a single area that rubbed or was uncomfortable.
