  • Great support, great look, durable, waterproof, and well made.
Size: 8 Color: Granite
I love my Merrell hiking boots. They are true to size and very comfortable. I had some work to do while it was raining and I was impressed that they kept my feet dry. They are great looking and I plan to buy another pair in a different color.

  • Very glad I bought these boots!
Size: 7.5 Color: Granite
Previously i had several pairs of keen targhee hiking boots which i really liked but the way they were made there was a seam that always rubbed uncomfortably on my big toe, causing me pain if i wore them for long periods of time. I was worried these boots might do the same thing but they dont. they fit wonderfully - lots of room in the toe box (i did go 1/2 size up from what i was previously wearing) but even with the spacious toe box my feet do not move around in them and i dont get any uncomfortable rubbing or blisters. these do say they are waterproof, but unfortunately they are not gore-tex so im sure the waterproof layer will only stay waterproof for so long, but thats the case with any kind of boot made from leather or suede. i hope these are as rugged as the targhee hiking boots were as i live in colorado and lots of the hiking i do is over terrain with sharp rocks which tend to destroy shoes which are made of man-made materials. so far they are holding up good and they are very very comfortable. oh - my only other complaint is the shoe laces - not a big deal but they are round laces which i never like - they come untied easily and you have to be careful not to accidentally trip on them when this happens, so i replaced the laces with half-round laces which are much better and stay tied. wish merrell would switch the kind of laces because i dont see any advantage to round laces. ... show more

  • Nice quality
Size: 7.5 Color: Granite
This hiking boot is what I’ve been looking for for the following reasons. The heel support is really good in that it has a stable impact support which also adds comfort. I have a high instep and again this boot works. Plenty of room in the toe area. I bought a half size larger for added space to wear thicker socks. They work even in colder weather. Overall a great hiking boot. ... show more

  • Fits true to size
Size: 6.5 Color: Boulder/Blush
I purchased these and the Moab 2 low vent. These are great. Even after reading that they run small, I decided to buy my normal shoe size which is a 6 1/2 M. I am so happy I did. They fit perfectly with enough room for wool socks. They were comfortable right out of the box. I've now walked several miles in both before I attack a longer hike. There were no issues. I love the color. These are not heavy boots. They are versatile enough to be used as a normal walking boot or hiking boot ... show more

  • Lightweight, great support and traction, Runs a little hot
Size: 8 Color: Granite
I’m an avid hiker and runner who up until now relied on their running sneakers (with an extra pair of socks or two) for even rigorous or wet hikes. I have a high arch and a bone spur on the back of both my heels that make finding shoes very difficult: lack of support leaves my hips and knees aching and the wrong back to the shoe leaves me bloody, so I don’t like to waste time and money if I find something that works ok. This winter, though, I’m planning a hike in icy mountain conditions plus need a new pair of boots for regular snow days in NYC, so decided it was time to bite the bullet. I did a lot of research and picked these to try first and I am so glad I found these! Thank you to all the reviewers here for your help! These are much lighter in weight then I thought they would be. I am somewhere between a 7.5 and 8 in shoes and went with the 8. They fit perfectly: not too snug but not at all loose. It’s hard to describe- they secure around your ankle and then they’re so light, they sort of just gently cradle around your foot. They don’t feel “cushy” like my sneakers but my feet feel supported and are completely protected from feeling the impact of hitting the ground. I took them for an inaugural 6mile hike in the small mountain reservation near my parents house in NJ, without any breaking in. The arch support is great, no aches and pains in my joints or feet. Miraculously no blisters, either. The conditions here are currently unseasonably warm and very humid, with heavy ground cover of wet leaves and pools of mud. The traction on the wet leaves/rocky mountain terrain, even while being pulled by a German Shepherd, was fantastic. I didn’t slip at all and my feet stayed dry. Plus I discovered how nice it is to have some extra ankle support. These boots did run a little hot, which is why I gave four stars. I tend to run hot myself. The good news is that even though they felt a little hot, my feet didn’t sweat (I was sweating otherwise in the warm humidity). These will be great boots for when the chill comes back and through the winter and early spring for both nature hiking and urban hiking through rain/snow. ... show more

  • Love this shoe
Size: 11 Color: Granite
The fit of the shoe is perfect for wearing thin or thick socks. The traction is a bit off. It will definitely have some traction on gravel, but grass or leaves will cause slippage especially when wet. Rocky paths are usually hit and miss with the traction as well. I have a pretty good size property that has all these elements, so it was definitely a learning experience. Best part is the shoes are comfortable when worn for extended periods at a time. With flat feet, that is saying a lot about the quality put into making this shoe. My feet have never hurt when wearing these shoes properly. (Laces tied and tightened) ... show more

  • GREAT ANKLE SUPPORT!
Size: 9.5 Color: Granite
When I began my search for a good pair of hiking boots, I decided on these boots after reading the reviews. I was NOT disappointed! First of all, the boots look great! Most importantly, they are comfortable, and fit nicely around the foot! They also support your ankles, which is great to help keep you from twisting your ankle while hiking. I wear these boots for everyday wear, especially during the winter! The quality is very good! For sizing, I would suggest you order up half a size. Because I have foot problems, I needed more padding inside the boot, so I ordered up, to make room for the shoe inserts. Ordering up a half size should be enough for most. Looks nice, good quality, ankle support, comfortable, great fit! What's not to like? ... show more

  • Great for hiking
Size: 5.5 Color: Granite
These boots fit so well and feel good on my feet. They support my ankles when hiking which is something I need. Climbing over rocks is much more stable with the tread pattern. Very glad I chose these for my new hiking boots.
