I was really hesitant to purchase these boots due to some of the other customer reviews, but they were so cute, I gave them a try. I've been wearing them nonstop since I got them a couple of weeks ago. I love them! They were a smidge stiff to begin with, but after a couple of hours they broke in quite nicely. I think they are comfortable, and they are indeed waterproof. I say buy them!

The fit is more narrow. But great for me because I am a narrow 10.5. They fit great and make my feet look small!! Very cute with a cuffed jean. Haven’t hiked with them yet but once I broke them in , which took a couple days, they were super comfy. Love wearing them to work and out and about. I got the black and liked them so much I bought the gray.

Overall happy with these. I bought them for my 12 year old daughter and she enjoys them. We hike a lot and they work for their purpose. They were difficult to break in and even after she'd worn them with thick socks around the house for several weeks they gave her really bad blisters on the back of her ankle the first time she wore them out and it wasn't even for a proper hike but just a 0.5 mile paved path at the park.

The toe tip adhesive of the sole failed and started coming off after only a few weeks. They are comfortable and the peeling has not gotten worse but first 1/2inch is flapping in the wind. :-(

I was really surprised to experience how comfortable they are right out of the box, because several reviews said needs a lot of breaking in. People also called them fashion hiking boots. I don’t think they’re attractive at all. But, I think they’re seriously good hiking boots! For me, they are extremely comfortable really well cushioned and I hike in the mud a lot. These guys didn’t slip anywhere. And so far waterproof. I went on and bought another pair of a different color while they were on sale. I would definitely recommend this to anyone.

Hiked up a mountain In these and thought they were fine until the next morning when I had to hike down in them and my ankles kept bending and twisting in them. The way down also killed my toes. They were not cushioned enough to stop you from getting blisters and then having your toes skinned as your walking. Even if they seem comfortable earlier, the downhill can reveal lots of issues. The only good thing about these are the grip on the bottom. But u can probably find another pair with better ankle support. Worst experience going downhill in these shoes.

I really wanted to love these retro, vegan, simple "urban hiking" boots from Merrell as I am a long time fan of Merrell. I will start with that they look cool and chic...for hiking footwear. Unfortunately, I was hoping for a more cushiony footbed and sole but it is rather hard despite it's thick, foamy appearance. I also found that there is NO support whatsoever in them so I would not dare take them onto any surface other than asphalt (at best), the floors of human dwellings, eateries and shops. You aren't able to make them much tighter by tying them tighter because they are not built like a sneaker or true hiking boot. They don't get more supportive with a simple adjustment. Maybe I am spoiled by true hiking boots like Merrell's Moab but when I purchased these I thought I was getting a casual, hiking-look, comfy boot. I do not find them comfy. I would rather slap on some sneakers. I gave them a chance and wore them out a couple of times for casual occasions as I get tired of sneakers and slip-ons for comfort footwear. I thought the price was great for a vegan boot that looks retro-cool but I really should have put them back in the box and returned them instead of giving them a try. Oh well:(

Nice fit. These are going to be perfect for my Alaska cruise. Excursions for Alaska need to be close toed, sturdy, and waterproof. These are going to do the job I need to be done.
