I'm usually a 10.5 wide, but with these there was a little too much room. Started wearing 2 pairs of socks and now they fit great. They're a little bulky, but pretty light. Very well made, warm, waterproof. I've worn them out in the snow and my feet stayed dry and warm. They don't have the highest level of cushion so plan on putting in a gel insole, but I do that with just about every shoe. If they had more cushion they'd be perfect, but they're pretty close as is. Still very comfy.

The Merrell Men’s Moab Speed 2 Mid GTX has quickly become one of my favorite trail companions. Right out of the box, the comfort level is impressive—no break-in period needed. The cushioning feels balanced and supportive, with enough responsiveness to handle long days on varied terrain. The GORE-TEX waterproofing is a standout feature. Wet grass, puddles, light rain—none of it gets through, yet the shoe remains breathable enough that my feet never feel overly warm or swampy. The mid-height design adds a reassuring level of ankle support without feeling bulky. Traction is excellent thanks to the rugged outsole; it grips rock, dirt, and loose gravel with confidence. The shoe is also surprisingly lightweight for how durable it feels, making it easy to keep moving without fatigue. Overall, the Moab Speed 2 Mid GTX offers a perfect combination of comfort, protection, and performance. I'm a shoe fanatic, but I'm guessing these are for trail "light"-jogging ? These are EXTREMELY "shaped" ( moulded open-ness inside ) AND lightweight. SO to fill the space, I placed an extra "shaped" support insole under the basic one - and that makes them feel great when walking in them. So then I guess, only the amount of activity can prove if the body & ankle-shafts of the uppers can have a good life length without breaking down. I have bought a second pair to have for 2 versions of "usage intent".

This is a great hiking shoe. It definitely is waterproof. First time wearing them they fit perfect and very comfortably. Hope they will last long for the price sake. But a worthy investment.

Great Shoe; Excellent Value.
These boots are highly rated for a reason. I am using them for rucking 4 miles a day, prepping for the Appalachian Trail next summer. As soon as I put them on, they were immediately comfortable. . .very comfortable: firm but flexible, good ankle support, attractive appearance. Merrell is a dependable brand with a well-deserved reputation. I am usually reluctant to buy shoes online just due to the hassle of exchanging. I am very pleased with this purchase.

Lace cloth eyelet breaks easily.
The cloth lace eyelet tore; only had these 4 months and no serious hiking or wear and tear. Merrell's website says they don't warrant laces or "lace hardware" which are the cloth eyelets. Serious design flaw for a hiking boot. Also sad, because they are lightweight and comfortable fit..

Great grip in the snow and ice, great waterproof protection, impeccable quality. Took a few 5mi hikes to break them in, but I didn't even get any blisters from that process. The soles have this lump in them that seems like it will be uncomfortable, but then you start walking and it's cushion for the pushin'! Lol they have very little ventilation, hence the Addidas I have in the other cubbie for summer/warmer weather. My feet were nice an warm in 10° CO weather on a 15mi hike. They started sweating profusely on the drive home. Do not wear in warm weather unless you're changing socks each hour lol you'll be squishing in your own boot sweat.
