  • Nice shoe runs small or my feet grew ....
Size: 10 Color: Granite
This is a very nice shoe , the 3rd pair I have had so far. Very comfortable and durable. The insert comes out which is great to air/ dry it out or if you have your own insert you like to use instead. The past pairs have held up quite well so I assume this will also. One issue I had on my last pair was the toe reinforcement material eventually ripped open, it's a thin material. Shoe was otherwise fine. The sizing in my opinion runs a bit small length wise (or my feet grew as I got older). I ended up going with 1/2 a size larger then my typical size. Feels right now. I'll probably will buy a 4th pair if still around when these get retired. /G ... show more

  • A very good to near great hiking shoe
Size: 11 Color: Avocado
I'm giving these a 4 because of sizing issues. Purchased a month ago, and have used heavily since then. Size and Fit: I wear a 10.5 US size in shoes, from both US and foreign manufactures. I used Amazon's "try before buy" and needed to exchange 10.5 for 11. The 10.5 was, as described, plenty wide enough, but not long enough for my foot. The 11 is a "bit" wide for my foot, but now long enough. They felt a bit uncomfortable in the ball area for about the first 3 walks around our neighborhood, 1.3 mile loops. However, that was enough to break them in and I wore them constantly for the next month, traveling and light hiking (20 lbs or less weight) extensively in Costa Rica and Panama. Very comfortable with liner and light hiking socks. It was the dry season and I cannot comment on water resistance. They were comfortable, good grip on mostly dirt or some rock trails, and I felt quite secure on rougher (roots) trails. Just watch the size; try or make sure you can exchange. These are shoes; the mid hikers might be better if you are carrying more weight. Recommended, I would by them again when these wear out. ... show more

  • Great for mud/ 2 inches of standing water
Size: 12 Wide Color: Granite
I use them for disc golf and they are great. I never worry about losing grip on a run up and keeps solid footing in mud or puddles. The water proofing works well my feet only get wet from overtopping no leaks or wet feeling when in puddles under the size of the shoe. The side wore out after a year of moderate use (Disc golf 3-4 times a week) making a small whole appear and stopped them from being water proof (I am hefty and flat footed so I wear out the side of my shoes quickly). The tread, toe and sole never had any issues so I got a new pair for the rain and swamps and use my old pair for yardwork or trips on sunny days. ... show more

  • My favorite low-top hiking shoes
Size: 9.5 Wide Color: Olive/Gum
I’m a big Merrell Moab fan. I also have another pair of these (not waterproof) for hot and dry hiking conditions, and a pair of high tops for backpacking and especially rough terrain. They have terrific tread (but since they also have a thin insole, that makes for a hard sole, so I find them a bit uncomfortable for extensive walking on pavement or surfaced trails, and use well-padded running shoes for those surfaces). But for dirt, sand, slickrock, and forest trails, they are fantastic. And extremely durable—these shoes definitely won’t fall apart on you. I’ve had my high tops for six years now and logged hundreds of miles in them. I particularly like the fact that Merrells are available in wide sizes that comfortably fit my wide feet. In short, I highly recommend them! (And my usual hiking buddy bought a pair on my recommendation, and he loves them as much as I do!) Update: In response to a customer question about the waterproofing, I called Merrell’s customer service line and they said it is NOT Gore-tex (their only Gore-tex waterproofed shoes are the ones that say Gore-tex, and have the Gore-tex lining sewn into them). The shoes that say Waterproof have a “treatment” that has to be renewed every 3-6 months with Merrell’s waterproofing spray or a similar product. ... show more
