  • Saved my ankles at Philmont
Size: 12 Color: Walnut
Before I went to Philmont scouting reservation for a 14 day trek in New Mexico, I had a pair of hiking boots that I could easily role my ankle with when carrying 50lb on my back. I upgraded to these boots before heading to Philmont, and I can definitely say with confidence that these saved me from rolling my ankle of multiple occasions. The shoe is unfortunately not waterproof or resistant, however, it has excellent ventilation and usually dries in 1-2 nights. For the price, these shoes went above and beyond. I highly recommend these to any individual interested in hiking or backpacking. ... show more

  • Good boots but less breathable than expected
Size: 12 Color: Walnut
I bought these as a replacement for some waterproof Lowa hiking boots I’ve had for 10 years. I was hoping to have a comfortable pair of boots for backpacking that would be quicker drying and breathe better. These are really comfortable, I took them on a five mile hike right out of the box and they fit great (12 in regular shoes, wore a 12 in these too). After 30 miles or so I like them but I expected better ventilation, my feet are pretty hot and stinky at the end of a long hike, not a problem I have with other boots usually. I was concerned before buying about the fabric lace loops as opposed to eyes in the boots, but they seem strong enough so far. Looking forward to many more miles in these. ... show more

  • Great Hiking Boots
Size: 11.5 Wide Color: Walnut
I've been wearing a pair of low-cut Merrill walking/hiking shoes for ten years as a replacement for a pair of leather Vasques. The Vasque shoes were redesigned and increased in price so I found an alternative. I need wide shoes which many hiking boots don't come in. The hiking boots look and fit just like their low cuts. I really like them. They're not water-proof which is ok with me. Other than rubber boots I've never had a pair of walking/hiking shoes that were waterproof, despite what they might say. I generally get three years out of a pair even though I walk quite a bit everyday. The Vibram soles are incredibly durable. The wide size fits perfectly. ... show more

  • Great work boot
Size: 9 Color: Black Night
I orded these Merrill hiking boots to wear this summer because my other Merrill work boots were to hot to wear. These boots are breathable and also waterproof. I learned this after stepping in a deep rain puddle on duty during a thunder storm. The only thing that I would change when I buy them again is going up half of a size for a little extra room for my toes. They aren't tight or super snug but I think they would be uncomfortable with thick socks on. ... show more

  • Best Hiking Boots I’ve Owned
Size: 11 Wide Color: Walnut
Perfect fit. Great ankle support and plenty of room in the toe box. Vibran soles make rocky trails nice and smooth. Laces stayed tied. I walked for hours in these boots and while they’re warm, they remained comfortable at 75-80(F) temperature. I buy good good socks so they may have contributed to the overall comfort level. At this price point, $90, these boots are 50-60% less than Hokas and other pricey brands. This is a no-brainer if you’re looked for affordable, quality boots. BTW, for what it’s worth, I’m not a paid shill like many writing positive reviews. When a product is really good or really bad, I’ll take the time to post. ... show more

  • Walking hiker perfected
Size: 10 Color: Walnut
My 2nd pair, previus oair was waterproof and for too hot but wore them for years. New boots have wider toe box, stiffer sole (much needed), improved toe and heel guards. Size 10 was a perfect fit.

  • Very comfortable and held up well
Size: 15 Color: Granite
These were used on a canoe trip in the boundary waters. For over a week these were used for portaging and with entry into the canoe. They were wet for the entire week and held up extremely well. They were very comfortable while walking on a portage I’d recommend them.

  • 200 miles plus
Size: 13 Color: Granite
Excellent hiking boot. Over 200 miles of hiking on everything from jagged rock, flat rock, hard and soft pack. Very little wear on sole. Slippery on wet rock, but with a sole this hard and sturdy that is to be expected. Laces and fabric in great condition after many miles. I have rolled my ankle a few times on uneven rocks but there is enough support that there have been no injuries. I expect to get another 200 miles plus with no issues ... show more
