For many years I have had to wear doctor prescribed orthotic inserts. I tried wearing them in my new Moab by Merrell boot. They did not fit the boot quite. I was happy with them, but still, I thought I might try the very high quality insert that came with the boot. Please don't say that the Moab inserts are not good quality. This is a disservice to Merrell. It is of a different build than most of you are used to. But it is very like a professionally made doctor ordered orthotic. Not quite, but of that same order. On with the story. I did try the Moab inserts. I put my orthotic pair from the doctor into the older street shoes I have, and I have not worn anything but my GREAT Moab boots since...except the time I had to go to a funeral...and I was tempted to wear them then! Great boot with a great insert...at least for my feet. I don't know how well they will wear...longevity, etc. But I will buy these boots again and again, as long as they make them with this last and orthotic insert. I am not kidding at all. For my feet I have never found their equal. Period!

This boots are light weight, and fit as expected. I have wide feet, I often have to size up to get shoes that fit. I got these in 11.5 wide. They fit my foot exactly, and because my foot is not crammed up in the toe box, my feet stay a little cooler. It is important to have the boots laced properly, or your foot can slide a little. I find the footing to be solid, even on sandy south FL soil. I hiked some river trails with my child and his scout troop. I had very solid footing, and I was even able to help others, and confidently traverse everything I came across. it is a fairly powerful feeling to be that confident in your footing. I am used to sneakers, so this was a huge upgrade to me. I found these boots comfortable, but with a caveat. These are not crocks or Uggs comfortable. They don't offer a squishy soft ride. These are utility comfortable. They are form fitting to my arch, and they are designed, first and foremost for traction. If you need soft, these are not the droids you're looking for. I really appreciate the breathability, fit, traction, comfort, and over all aesthetic. These are 5 star in my book. I will probably even wear them in settings where all the features are not needed.

I was recommended Merrell for a light, comfortable work boot and am very happy with the purchase. These are just what I need - a non-slip tread, lightweight, roomy in the toe, and some padding and flex against the top of my foot to prevent tendon irritation. I've worn these new out of the box for several days of spring cleanup on a sloped 1 acre lot with no foot pain at all. I did, however, replace the Merrell inserts with my own which are custom fit to my arch. If I have one very minor issue it is that the exterior surface of the boot is a grass and thorn magnet when weed-eating and takes a little extra time for clean up.

I have several Merrell’s and Keen hiking boots. While I have only had these for a few weeks, they is no real break in period. They fit comfortable right out of the box. The couple things I’d like different is the shoe laces. I wish they were more like Keens that have a lock in the top hook eyelet. Not a big issue but it would keep the laces from loosening up although this hasn’t been an issue this far. Also the toe box is not as roomy as the Keen boots. If you like a wide and roomy toe box these wouldn’t be for you. They fit me fine without issue although I like a little wider toe box. They have great traction with the only exception being some rocks that were wet and a little mosey covered. The footbed was supportive and comfortable and these not being WP, breathe well. All in all these are great fitting, comfortable and good looking boots.

I will be providing an updated review after a month or so of wear, but here are my first impression. These live up to and exceed my expectations for width. The toe box on the wide with my size 12 foot leave plenty of room for appropriate socks yet snug up well for a quick walk on a local trail. They breath well, but I might invest in a pair that are waterproof. the outer sole grips better than other boots I have worn, the stiffness of the shank provides excellent feel on rocky terrain. The thickness of the heel adds some level of comfort on uneven rocky terrain, however, I suffer from heal pain and plantar fasciitis, and the inner sole has not lived up to my expectation based on the product reviews on independent sites. Of course this can be remediated with after market insoles which I plan to try, and will provide an additional update to this review detailing how and whether this addressed my concerns with this boot. Overall I would highly recommend these.

I actually thought that I received the wrong size when I picked up the package, it was too lightweight to be a size 13. I opened up the Amazon box to find a Merrell shoe box with my Moab 3 mids inside. This is my 1st pair of Merrell brand shoes. I was impressed at how light they were and the construction is great too. Perfect fit. Easy to put on and lace up. Very breathable and my feet don't get hot. I live in Guam so that's extremely important. In-between a sneaker and a hi-top, the mid is great for me because I don't want restriction of movement but I like having my ankles somewhat protected.

The Moab 3 Mid in Wide size actually fits correctly to my 10.5 W foot. Loved Merrell's for some time as they are great, long wearing boots but used to have to fiddle with the sizes to find a match to me.

Although very similar in design to the MOAB 2, which was a solid and affordable hiker, the MOAB 3 is more comfortable and better looking. I wear a size 9 in footwear and these fit perfectly in that size, with plenty of room in the toe box, solid arch support and a snug heel.
