  • Nice shoe for walking
I do a daily morning walk and wanted something a little wider to accommodate my injured big toe. Shoes are very comfortable and fit well but the darn laces are way too long. When I tie them to keep from stepping on them, it looks like Mickey Mouse ears and I get tired of hearing the flopping when I am trying to enjoy being outside and alone. The shoes are fine and will last a long time but I gotta do something about the laces. ... show more

  • Some of the best hiking and every-day shoes I've ever owned.
Size: 10.5 Color: Beluga
I bought my first pair of Merrell Moab 2 (they were called Ventilators then) before doing a month-long 250 mile hike along the John Muir trail. I prefer these over hiking "boots" because they have much better ventilation and this can be key to preventing blisters. I saw a lot of people have to drop out of that hike somewhere along the way, and almost all of them were due to foot issues rather than fatigue or other injuries. Almost all of those people had full on above-the-ankle hiking boots, including goretex ones. The thing about waterproof hiking boots is sure they dont let water in... but they also dont let it out and your sweat gets trapped inside turning your foot into a mushy swamp and then the blisters come in and you're done for. I love these type of "trail runner" shoes because I feel more agile in them, they still offer great protection against trail conditions, and most importantly I've never had foot issues with them which is priceless. I also have pretty wide feet and they fit great. These shoes not only held up through that entire 250 mile hike but I wore them through many more hikes after that. When they finally did give out after many years, I was so satisfied that I immediately bought another pair. I am now on my 3rd pair of these Merrell shoes and I love them, I will always have a pair. They don't wear out because of quality issues, I just do a lot of hiking and really beat mine up. If you want a high quality pair of hiking shoes (or just every day shoes like I also wear mine) that are very comfortable and won't give you blisters I highly recommend these Merrell Moabs. ... show more

  • Pretty good
Got these on a sale and have hiked about 50 or so miles thus far. I ordered a half size up and they fit really well. Pros: Great fit Soles are rigid and durable. I hike over jagged rocks frequently and the sole protects your feet well. Cons: they are a bit heavy. They are way thicker and chunkier than the photos will portray. This can add some protection however. So not all bad. So so: Comfort. I’d say by about by mile 6 my feet are about done and need a break. This could be the weight or the insole I’m not sure. But they aren’t amazing for comfort. Maybe just ok. Good for shorter day hikes I’d say. The sole alone is really worth the purchase. Despite a couple drawbacks. ... show more

  • Love the try before you buy option
Size: 9 Color: Black Night
Shoes were exactly what I expected. Great fit and quality like my last pair. Opted to try before I buy to ensure all was as expected. Very good price for limited sizes & color but found an excellent color in my size.

  • Comfortable, durable all-terrain footwear
When I first put them on I thought they were heavy because for many years I made do with lightweight walking tennis shoes. Then one day I slipped on a wet surface and injured myself. I sought a safer shoe. I came across these the way everybody does now, via the Internet. More to the point, in an hour or less I realized that these were gloriously comfortable shoes and fit perfectly snug. Since then I've walked hundreds of miles wearing them and they continue to impress me with their comfort. I've worn them to walk country trails, deserts, rain forests, mountain sides, and of course, sidewalks. They're the "real deal" for all-occasion footwear (maybe not dress up affairs but I digress). Their laces are extremely durable, not likely to ever snap. At the top of the rear there's a finger loop which enhances ease of putting them on. My feet never sweat in them, even in sweltering heat. They are exceptionally durable and after 18 months I decided to write my review to praise them for the recognition deserved. I highly recommend this brand. ... show more

  • These are solid shoes, I haven't owned a pair of shoes this rugged for a long time.
Size: 10 Wide Color: Beluga
The shoes came on time, their appearance is just a pictured, and with the extra savings they offered, very affordable. They are not as heavy as lesser quality shoes that cost the same, but you can tell just by wearing them that they are solid. I ordered my size: 10W, and the site suggested I might want a 9.5 as they run large. I could probably fit well in the 9.5 but want to add extra cushion inside for my old feet. In addition, the extra space leaves space for work socks. Great product Merrill, I will come back for more. ... show more
