  • Best hikers for the money
Size: 9.5 Color: Grey
I bought these moabs after reading some random internet reviews of them. I bought them for deer hunting. I do a ton of walking/scouting for my style of hunting. These are the most comfortable boots I’ve worn for hunting. I can walk all over the place and my feet do not hurt. They have great support and they’re lightweight. As far as waterproof goes so far they have been. I have not submerged them and I try to avoid it but I have walked through morning dew and small creeks and my feet have stayed dry. I would assume just like any other boot they will eventually leak. Hopefully I can get a few years out of them before that. Once they do I’ll just buy another pair. Just keep an eye out on Amazon when they go on sale. Can’t beat the price. ... show more

  • Third Paid I’ve Purchased. Great Boot!
Size: 11.5 Color: Boulder
Admittedly, they aren’t the most stylish looking boots, but they are super solid and long lasting, especially for the price point. There’s a reason why Merrell has had this style available for years without changing it, while they have lots of other limited styles available off and on throughout the year. After tying on about a dozen different boots from different outdoor stores, I finally found these and I couldn’t be happier with their performance or how they feel. These are extremely comfortable and supportive boots, without being too heavy or rigid. Price wasn’t a consideration when I was searching for new hiking boots because I just wanted sometime that fit great and performed well, but I was happy that I found these. I even have a pair that I use just for hiking so they don’t get worn out at work, but I love my work pair because they’re worn in and are easy to wear all day. Highly recommended for quality. Not too stylish, but worth the sacrifice. ... show more

  • Quality Boot
Size: 11 Color: Earth
I wanted a waterproof boot for my birding field trips. These are excellent quality. The price is very reasonable and I like to get my fit slightly larger for the toe. I have them on now and they really feel very comfortable. They have a slightly higher ankle so that if I step in water that is not too high, they will give me a feeling of being dry. Last time I went out I got my feet soaked with my regular Brooks running shoes. My birding buddy told me about these and he told me to get a pair. I highly recommend these for anyone that likes to hike in the filed in wet conditions. ... show more

  • Mystifying Merrell
Size: 9 Color: Earth
Moab2 seems a bit different. Toe box seems rounder. OK. I took a 9 in the old model, Amazon recommends a 7 for me. Went from this 9 to an 8-1/2EE. Nope. Then 8-1/2M. Yup. In the "real world" I should take a 7-1/2D, but that's with everyday socks. So ... with SmartWools, these in 8-1/2M work after a couple of days of breaking in, starting with athletic socks. Is this confusing? You bet. I've given up on going purely with marked size. If you put on any kind of mileage you really do need to be fussy. It is what it is. Havent gotten the 8-1/2Ms wet yet, can't speak for waterproof quality. In my experience "waterproof" is more a wish than a specification. More on this later ;) The new laces seem to have Kevlar or something ... a single knot (l used to double knot) holds all day. ... show more

  • Seem ok but they were moldy
Size: 10 Wide Color: Granite
I tried on the right shoe just to check the fit and the fit was good. Toe box was plenty wide for my wide feet. Instep was good for my high instep which is hard for me to find. The arch support is minimal and could be better. The heel felt very hard and could use more padding. Overall they felt ok but I might add an arch support insole. Star rating for the shoes if they arrived in good condition. The problem is the shoes were damp and moldy! White powdery mold all over them and they smell like a basement. The uppers are deformed from moisture. The box appears fine so I'm guessing they were repackaged from a batch that were damaged by water and sold at a discount. Completely unacceptable to sell products in this condition. ... show more

  • Too Small
Size: 13 Color: Olive/Orange
I got these and I was very excited to get a replacement hiking boot. These are high rated. Unfortunately these were too small. I ordered my normal shoe size, but for me that varies depending on what I'm wearing. Most of my boots are size 13, my Red Wing boots are size 14, most of my dress shoes and gym shoes are size 13, my Nike sneakers are size 14, Brands differ on the size I need. I gambled that a 13 would fit me, but it didn't fit. Too small. So I returned them, but Amazon didn't have a size 14, so I had to order direct from Merrell. Paid a lot more. These boots looked really nice, looked well made, looked very comfortable. They are very light weight compared to my Red Wing boots. Wish they would have fit! I went hiking in Red River Gorge and wore my heavy Red Wings again. Looking forward to my next hike and wearing my new light weight Merrell boots. ... show more

  • good boot, not waterproof
Size: 11 Color: Earth
good fitting boot with solid construction. But these are not waterproof boots. They are at best water resistant. If you plan to be in heavy rain or standing water, you will want to apply a waterproofing aerosol to the boots (I use silicone). They boots are nicely ventilated and do breath and will dry relatively quickly, and that does keep your feet less wet if water does penetrate. silicone waterproofing may be less than effective on the nylon/polyester fabric and more effective on the leather sections. If you were looking for hardcore waterproof keep your feet dry no matter what, this is not the boot you are looking for. ... show more

  • After Trying Many Boots, These fit PERFECT
Size: 9.5 Wide Color: Granite
I am an avid hiker/backpacker. I have wide feet, so I used to love Vasque and Keen and Asolo, but I tried them on and they all seem to have changed. They used to fit me like a glove, not they seem to run narrow and I could not get them to be "Not Painful". I even went to REI and tried on several at the store. The Salesman said that they all have changed over the past few years. Finally, I ran across these boots and they fit perfect. ... show more
