I have 3 other pair of merrell boots, but I most say these are the most comfortable boots I have. Just like wearing a light gym shoe with more support. I have wore Danner most of my life, but they are heavy. These are a like walking in slippers. Not sure if Merrell is going to discontinue the alverstone, but wish they would continue to make them. Not sure about the bad reviews on here, but if you purchase these boots you will not return them, they are fantastic....... ... show more

I ordered these boots attempting to replace my older Merrell Boulder hiking boots - which are wonderful. These Alverstone boots are fine for casual Friday at work, or light walks on paved/gravel trails at the dog park. The first walk through dewy grass and my feet were soaked. They are comfortable and the price was low so I kept them. Should be fine for knocking around. Maybe a few coats of waterproofing spray will help. True to size. I ordered 11.5 and 12, kept the 12s. My husband loves these shoes! Merrells are his favorite shoe brand, and I think this was the 3rd or 4th time he got this particular style. He is a handyman and on his feet all the time and these are the ones he wears most days. He highly recommends them!
