I want to like these. They look cool, they’re comfortable. I’ve worn them for hours of walking around cities and on rough roads and they were great. However, within weeks of wearing them they’re already showing wear. The rubber trim pieces are peeling off. You can also see they were made cheaply, slightly asymmetric, just shoddy. Not what I expected from Merrel.

This review pertains only to the quality. It would be one star if the shoes didn't look and fit so nicely. The first pair of these were great, got them back in 2019. They held up super well. I work a high impact labor job and they lasted me about a year. I ordered another pair, they arrived and looked slightly different. I didn't think much of it. A WEEK into using this new pair the rubber lining on the toe cap started peeling off on the front and the sides. CHEAP. Not happy. They clearly switched the glue and other materials to save some money. I will not be buying another pair.

These were true to my size for Merrell shoes. Problem with these is even though they are new they are feeling flimsy already. Now that I've broken them in I've noticed a bump or bulg in the foam/sole of the right shoe that is causes discomfort after wearing them for some time. Not a fan of flat laces anymore either. Overall I wouldn't buy these again, and may not keep them very long. Kind of disappointing. I really like my new Cham 7 wp Merrell though, those are great shoes... These not so much.

I love them as casual shoes, but it is a stretch to call them hiking shoes. As another reviewer mentioned, the mesh seems to be fake mesh, so aside from being low-tops, these shoes do not vent heat that well; as casual shoes, no problem, but hiking in hot weather would not be the best. pros: look great light weight comfy cons: not great ventilation laces not the best Update 9/13/19: watch out on smooth floors during wet conditions. I found them to be like ice skates in stores and restaurants.

I purchased this shoe to have something that worked better in cool to cold temperatures than my sneakers, but wasn't a boot. For that purpose, this shoe is fine. It's sneaker style, but nicer than an athletic shoe. It has a relatively wide toe box and the foot bed is comfortable enough for short to medium walks. This suede version doesn't breathe well enough for summertime in my opinion. I haven't worn them long enough to test the durability, but the quality does seem lower than other shoes I've purchased in this price range. If it cost 70% of the list price, I'd probably give it 5 stars. At a little over $100 though, there are higher quality and more comfortable shoes available (including other Merrell shoes).

Summer = sandals/flops, winter/snow=waterproof snow boots. For everything in between these have become my shoes. They still look good after 3 years--bought them in 2018, though I do avoid wearing them in wet weather just because I want to keep them pristine looking (wet spring and fall = breathable, water-resistant hiking shoes). I live overseas and was thinking about changing it up when I come to the US and shop again, but as I was putting them on this evening I was thinking, "Why would I? These look good, they're comfortable in the right places with the right arch support for me (10.5 true to size). Why not be like Steve Jobs and just keep wearing the same thing just because it works?" Have seen some who bought theirs more recently complain about quality issues. Not noticing it on these and have worn them a fair bit over three years. Hopefully Merrell is still putting out a quality product.

2 stars off. one for ventilation. Dang these thing were hot... you can't even blow air through the mesh upper they are made from. 1/2 star off for not enough cushion at the forefoot (ball of foot). 1/2 star off because they are a tad narrow, but most will be OK with this shoe for that. Yes I have wide feet but I usually wear regular Merrels fine (old Annex, Moab, and Cham 7 limit were great). Bummed cause I liked the style.

I've just received these and will be happy to give a follow up review later but first review the styling is great, I'll use these for travel and a everyday casual with khaki's shoe, not hiking. I'm between a 14 and a 15 and got a 15, and the fit is very good. I see no problems with the quality, everything looks nicely stitched and glued. For reference, i do not see this as a summer shoe, may retain heat a little too much for that, but a great spring and fall shoe. But i already have a great ventilated Merrell summer shoe! I've owned a lot of different brands in the past but lean towards Merrell now for consistency and quality.
