  • Solid choice with unmatched quality.
Size: 11 Color: Pecan
I’ve put these Merrell Accentor 3’s through a few long hikes and they’ve been nothing short of reliable. The fit is true to size, with just enough room in the toe box without feeling sloppy. The cushioning is supportive but not overly squishy, so my feet never felt tired even after hours on rocky trails. The traction grips well on both wet rocks and dry dirt paths, which gave me a lot of confidence on uneven terrain. They’re lightweight, break in quickly, and look good enough to wear off the trail. If you want a dependable, comfortable shoe for hiking or everyday outdoor use, these are a great choice. ... show more

  • Great Lightweight and Durable Day Hikers at a Reasonable Price
Size: 11.5 Color: Olive/Moss
These Merrell hiking shoes are very comfortable, lightweight, and sturdy. Previously, I had a couple of pairs of Keen Targhee hiking shoes that were great and waterproof, but quite heavy. They were great for longer hikes, or in wet environments, but overkill for ~5-mile day hikes in dry California weather. I was also pleasantly surprised by the fit. I expected them to be a bit small, and I almost ordered a wide version. I'm glad I didn't. The normal-width shoes I received have plenty of room in the toe, and the toe box is plenty wide. In other words, these shoes run a bit large, which worked out perfectly for me. I've only used these shoes a couple of times, so time will tell how well they hold up. That said, I'm very impressed so far by the quality and comfort of these shoes. ... show more

  • Feel like slippers-one shortcoming
Size: 13 Color: Olive/Moss
Good quality shoe, larger-sized toe box. Padded toungue and with the thick breathable fabric layers-these feel like slippers. The heels are narrow in comparison to most hikers, so I’m not sold on ankle stability-but overall a very comfortable shoe. Easy to fit my thick prostep inserts into these

  • Could be awesome - except for one massive design flaw
Size: 15 Color: Olive/Moss
I like Merrill’s quite a lot I own 3 different styles of hikers, and they’ve mostly served me well. But there is one massive design flaw that is incredibly obnoxious. The straps they use for shoelaces snap and break over time. Once they snap, the shoe becomes mostly unwearable. I believe this manufacring method is a cheap shortcut over traditional sturdier metal grommets that are nearly impossible to break. I grant it is a sleek look and the style can set it apart from traditional metal loops of competitors, but the nylon straps don’t stand the test of time and wear. I guess when this happens, Merrill expects me to drill into he material so I can fit a shoelace into them…or spend another hundo on another set of shoes (needlessly). So, beware that after about a year of use you will have to solve this problem via a DYI drill bit, and then scissor off the ripped nylon straps hanging about. Super obnoxious. What Merrill gets right? A very comfortable shoe. Stylish. Produced in large sizes (I wear 15s, a giant plus and why I keep buying them). The rest of the shoe, other than the above stated, is durable enough and sturdy for hard use. Merrill, your engineers/designers need to fix this issue. ... show more
