Good quality shoe, larger-sized toe box. Padded toungue and with the thick breathable fabric layers-these feel like slippers. The heels are narrow in comparison to most hikers, so I’m not sold on ankle stability-but overall a very comfortable shoe. Easy to fit my thick prostep inserts into these

These Merrell hiking shoes are very comfortable, lightweight, and sturdy. Previously, I had a couple of pairs of Keen Targhee hiking shoes that were great and waterproof, but quite heavy. They were great for longer hikes, or in wet environments, but overkill for ~5-mile day hikes in dry California weather. I was also pleasantly surprised by the fit. I expected them to be a bit small, and I almost ordered a wide version. I'm glad I didn't. The normal-width shoes I received have plenty of room in the toe, and the toe box is plenty wide. In other words, these shoes run a bit large, which worked out perfectly for me. I've only used these shoes a couple of times, so time will tell how well they hold up. Good shoes ,heel has good quality comfort but the front part of the shoe needs just a bit more comfort and the shoe would be better I recommend getting a new off market insert for better comfort

Merrels have great fit. Sizes I find inconsistent for same shoe size. Bought 2 size 9 and one was good the other tight. Love Merrills though so some extra order and return to get a fit.
