This is the 4th or 5th pair of Merrell shoes I have gotten for my 8 years old. Merrell usually last for a while but this time the stitching in the front started to fall apart within one month. My co worker told me she has had bad luck with shoes purchased from Amazon.com. These shoes are a great choice for mild winters like we have in Arkansas. They keep my son's feet warm when it's a bit too chilly for sneakers. They're true to size, though I went a bit bigger and he still finds them comfortable. They're waterproof (or at least resist getting wet for a good time). Not the lightest shoes, but not bulky either. My son (now 5 but wearing them since he was 4) loves running and climbing in them at the playground. A big plus is that he can easily put them on and take them off by himself. They haven't gotten smelly either, which is plus. I got them on sale and was very happy with the price. My kiddo goes through shoes like nothing else- and I don’t mean by ‘growing out’ of them quickly - these have been the sturdiest shoes he has ever owned. And he also loves because they are Velcro. Will definitely buy again.

I ordered these for my son who has orthotics and requires a supportive shoe. His orthotics fit easily and the shoe provides enough support that he doesn’t experience foot pain. They are very durable and do not come apart like other brands.

These shoes hold up much better than other sneakers. Eight year old has worn these daily for months and there are no holes and they still close well. That is hard to find in shoes these days.

We absolutely love these. My now 5 yo has been wearing this style for a couple years and they hold up to our outdoor lifestyle. The traction is great for climbing rocks. I buy them when they go on sale, cause they aren't cheap. Especially for a childs shoe they really only wear for a year. Size is true. 5yo likes the foot support. Purchased the red and grey for my son. They're not as bulky as some of the others and just look better in my opinion. No complaints from my 9 yo so they must be comfortable. Appears to be good quality- no issues so far and my rough boy has been wearing them for over a month.
