    • Lowest quality Amazon purchase ever?
This is probably the worst price:quality ratio I have experienced on Amazon. It was certainly not cheap, but the quality of material is unlike anything I have ever seen: the wood cracked and exploded multiple times during assembly, including during the simplest screwing prescribed by the manual. The manual is a mess, including blatant errors, skipped steps, and misrepresentations, in addition to being comically complex. The lighting that appears in the picture is not ready for use without further electrical work. None of the drawers and features fit seamlessly. The piece works and looks beautiful (it is a Pottery Barn dupe) but I am afraid it won’t survive even a single move due to the shockingly low quality and feeble design. It would have made sense if this was $150, but I would think twice before forking over the full price for what you get. ... show more

I purchased three of these and put them together to make one large bookcase for my wife's office. Each bookshelf came in two boxes, one with the upper shelves and one with the lower cabinet and the boxes were all heavy. I recommend you have a dolly or second person to help move them. The units were packed extremely well with Styrofoam and there were no damages on any of my pieces. Assembly was fairly straightforward and similar to what I expected with "assemble yourself" furniture. I used wood glue on all dowels and connection points to improve the final stability of the shelves and had no troubles with building any of the pieces. It took me about 2-4 hours per shelf (I got faster as I had more practice) and the total build time for all three was about 10 hours for me including clean up. As is typical with these types of builds, the instructions are pictures only, so you do have to pay close attention to the direction and orientation of the pieces to make sure your screw holes and brackets all end up pointing in the right direction for the next step. A picture of the final build is attached. For inexpensive furniture, my wife and I are both extremely happy with the final result.     • Too difficult to assemble
Very difficult to put together. It had pages and pages of directions and directions were not clear many times. I hated the light that came with it and left a hole in the top of the bookcase if you don't want to install the light, which was very cheap.

    • Bad Customer Service
I bought this cabinat from Amazon. it was packed in 2 boxes. The top part was fine and when put together is looks good. However, the box with the cabinet doors was missing the doors. Also the paint on the drawer fron was chipped. The box was in good condition when it arrived. It was well packed. However, there were NO cabinet doors. Amazon will not help with this problem but told me to contact the manufacturer, Merax. I contacted them with an email message. I gave them the item number, the date it was sent and the Amazon order number. They wrote back that they could not find the order and wanted the tracking number. I sent that number. Then they want the PP number. They sent a picture of what it looks like but no number like this was on the box. They stated that they wanted to determine where the fault was. Then they wanted pictures of the parts I was requesting. I don't have any doors! I sent a picture of the drawer front. I am now waiting for yet another reply. The cabinet is not a top quality piece of furniture, but it was inepensive, so it met my expectation. However, I am really angry that the doors were missing and the chipped drawer front. It also itrritates me that they are looking for someone else to blame. It is the lack of quality control in the Merax packing department. This might not happen to everyone who orders this cabinet. But I can't under stand how someone could pack this and not notice that they forgot the doors??? The box was full. it was not partically empty. If you want this, buy it. Your order may be perfect. We bought this for an extra bedroom so it is fine. just remember that you get what you pay for! ... show more
