Finding a hiking boot that doesn't feel like wearing concrete blocks is a struggle, but these CARENURSE boots nailed the balance. They offer the ankle support of a traditional boot with the agility of a trail runner. Performance on the Trail Weight: These are incredibly light. If you’re doing high-mileage treks, you’ll notice a huge difference in leg fatigue by the end of the day. Traction: The lug pattern on the outsole provides a solid grip on loose gravel and damp soil. I felt confident on moderate inclines without any slipping. Water Resistance: They handle dewy grass and shallow puddles like a champ. While I wouldn’t submerge them in a river for five minutes, they keep your feet dry during typical "messy" hiking conditions. of course China has weird names on things sometimes, my feet are very spoiled with Nike and New balance.. I usually wear the black leather New balance sneakers.. I do love those.. of course they are very expensive.. this pair of boots are very affordable and are surprisingly really nice. the outsole is real rubber and very nice.. supposedly the uppers are leather I believe it said, but it looks to me like they are vinyl. just looking down at them, they do look like leather and in a darker room they kind of look like suede because the black is so dark. I really like them a lot, I usually wear sneakers in a wide size to have plenty of room for my feet to spread naturally.. these are not a wide size as specified but I do have plenty of room. they keep my feet warm and they are comfortable to wear.. I was reading the reviews before I bought them and I am surprised at some of the complaints.. maybe sometimes there is a bad pair that gets shipped out.. that can happen with the most expensive of things too.. I really like these Boots a lot. the laces were laced perfectly and they look like good quality laces to boot. 😁 I really must say that they are excellent. they are plenty flexible, they do provide good support, but I can say that if you are walking on very irregular frozen snow, you can feel the bottom flexing from the irregularity of the ground.. perhaps timberland pro do have a more solid bottom. Actually a good boot, especially for the price. This shoe is not waterproof as water does seap through certain areas like the holes for shoe laces. So not good for hikes with streams, but on a rainy day I believe all will be well. I have gone on several hikes with my son who is flat-footed and he thinks these are of a comfortable width and light enough for him to put in a few miles with me on different types of trails including those with rocks. Considering he wears a size 13 wide, most boots are too narrow up top, but this boot makes it easy for him to put in his insoles and comfortably walk. These are not the worst boots. Unfortunately that's not exactly a glowing review. The outer sole, laces and synthetic leather seem to be of decent quality and are performing well. Unfortunately the inner sole seems to be of poor quality. I've worn these 3-4 days a week 12 hours at a time now for about 7 weeks. The inner sole is not well cushioned, the longer I wear them the more this becomes apparent. For the price of $40 these aren't terrible, but they are lacking where it counts. When I step on a piece of gravel on a sidewalk I can feel that specific shaped rock making a unique indention pressing into the bottom of my foot. I can appreciate a sensitive sole, just not in a hiking boot or work style boot. Edit- Dec 17- I've purchased hard arch supporting insoles for these($20) and this has dramatically improved the experience. ... show more

When a shoe is on the cheaper side you always have a concern but at first glance i couldn’t believe it was a hiking shoe, it’s nicer than some of my dress shoes. It fits very well and it’s not heavy.

Excellent bargain for the price. I work in hospitality and I'm used to replacing work shoes about every 6 months or so, even ones that cost 2 or 3 times as much as these. It has been about 6 months since I bought these and they are still going strong after near daily usage with only superficial wear and tear. They are comfortable and durable, and I'd recommend them to anyone who spends most of their time at work on their feet. ... show more
