  • A GREAT DEAL
Size: Closed Hole Color: Nickel
The media could not be loaded. Would give more than 5 stars for value if possible. I am impressed with this 70$ flute. I didn't expect such good tone from something so affordable. I did have to tighten a few screws to get a clearer tone but that was expected since this item was shipped via mail. So happy to be able to make music again! And at such a great price! I call this priceless! This little flute seems ideal for any hobbyist on a budget, a new flute player, or a fairly new flute player wanting a new flute but can't afford a "brand" name, or for marching band as a secondary flute so you don't mess up your concert flute in the field. Cool beans. Me likey. ... show more

  • If you can, get it checked out before the return window
Size: Closed Hole Color: Sky Blue
The media could not be loaded. There are some pretty good reviews for these Mendini flutes on youtube, but I don't find any long term updates. I bought this flute in 2017 for about fifty dollars new on Amazon. I'm a home hobby player with quite a few musical instruments and have kept this on the shelf a lot. I've put maybe twenty hours of playing time on it, although I do find it enjoyable to play - just have many choices. I've also bought a number of "bargain basement" off brand woodwind instruments from various online sites - four flutes, three piccolos, three clarinets, and two soprano saxophones. Most have been satisfactory so far. One flute, not this Mendini, and one piccolo arrived in unsatisfactory adjustment and one soprano sax has had two small corks fall off after some time. So for a home hobby player I'd say these can sometimes be a decent low cost way to go, and maybe even can be okay for an elementary school band - although I'm not a band director. I played sax in community college stage band and concert band many years ago and I may kindly describe my pitch perception as having room for improvement. So this Mendini flute has held up so far and again has been enjoyable to play as a home hobby. I can see the argument of maybe renting from a trusted music store or even buying a used name brand student flute if that is within your budget. I will say if you go for one of these Mendini flutes see if you can get it checked by an experienced flute student or a band director if possible before the return window. In any event good luck and happy music making! ... show more

  • Poorly Made, Terrible Customer Service
We purchased this flute for our granddaughter to use for her band concerts and such. After just two months problems arose. First, we noticed the fuchsia color was beginning to peel off in one spot. After just a couple more days we were informed that one of the keys was not producing the correct note (the band teacher had noted this). Since it was past the time Amazon could accept a return we reached out to the manufacturer. Their response, though polite, was simply this, you'll have to pay to get this fixed. The estimated cost was about the same we paid for the flute! Well, to say the least, we feel quite taken. It seems clear that this product is poorly made and that the company that makes it simply considers these to be some kind of disposable item. We will never buy any instruments from this company again. ... show more

  • YOU ARE A TOY!
Size: Closed Hole Color: Nickel
I have seen these or similar < $100 flutes for some time now and wanted to see what they really are. I had a $60 Amazon gift card, so I used it to get this one. I have been playing flute for over 35 years. I've had several, from student to professional models. NONE of them were like this. Make no mistake about it, this is a toy. Like many toys, it's possible to play music on it, but it's not at all suitable for any serious pursuit. The key work is sticky and slow. It just doesn't feel right. Playing notes in any octave that require the right hand keys closed is difficult. I don't see how a beginner could understand what it takes to make those notes sound. The tone is thin and poor, probably due to the thin, cheap material of the headjoint and riser. The footjoint is WAY too tight fitting which is probably why the thing comes with a tube of lubricant. I have NEVER used any type of lubricant on any other flute tenon, ever. I really don't expect it to hold up for long. I am letting my 11 yo daughter play with it for now. We'll see just how durable it is over time. If you are seriously considering tis flute, just know what you're getting. It's NOT a serious musical instrument, it's a toy. If you are serious, there are HUNDREDS of used student models from Bundy, Emerson, Armstrong, Artley, etc.. that you can get in good playing condition for around $100. That's plenty cheap enough for a much more reliable and satisfying instrument. ... show more
