I ordered this drum set for a very talented 6 year-old granddaughter. It arrived quickly and was well packaged and there moderately good assembly instructions. Having played guitars professionally for over 50 years and jamming with more than 100 drummers, it took about 45 minutes to set up the drum kit and that included tuning the drums. The ONLY problem was the snare drum stand was missing two wing screws and couldn't be made to hold the snare drum. I notified Amazon hoping to get only a new snare drum stand- in two days I had a complete 2nd drum kit. I took the snare drum stand out of the new kit and replaced it with the non-working stand. The new stand worked perfectly. Now reality therapy- this set is NOT a set of $2000 Ludwigs and it's not made for a 10 year-old child. However for a 6 year-old talented granddaughter, it is a reasonably economical experiment to see if she will take lessons and practice; or just keep time with her Ipod. I took off the shoes and tapped on the high-hat and bass pedal and they functioned perfectly but it wouldn't take much adult pressure to break the strap on the drum pedal or to pull the high hat locking screw. The cymbals are appropriate for this set so don't expect anything close to Zildjian's sound. I'm not easily impressed with most "real" instruments designed for small children but this set impressed me. If you have any knowledge of setting up a drum kit just remember everything on this set is 20% of the durability of a regular drum kit. The drum heads are a relatively thick plastic that tunes to a sufficiency that will satisfy a child. Over tuning the drum heads and one good hit with the sticks would probably break the snare, two tom-toms, and a bass drum head. Good Luck finding replacements. Fender makes a 1/2 sized guitar shaped like a strat. It's a real guitar and I have bought several for grandchildren with exceptional talent. As they've grown, they're now wanting to borrow my guitars- this makes me happy but children have to learn rejection to grow. Same thing with this little drum set. it's a real set that will reveal a desire to play the real things in the future; or, it'll be an irritating noise maker that will end after a week or two. I would buy this drum kit again if a child showed any budding talent or desire.

This set is great! Purchased for our daughter’s birthday. I originally was going to get a different set, but my order was canceled due to out of stock, so I decided one this one instead. Our daughter loves when we listen to rock music and has taken an interest in drums, so we really like that she can grow with this. Plus my husband and I will have fun playing the drums with her. The directions are not completely clear and can be more difficult when you have a toddler trying to help you install and pieces are missing, lol. The color we purchased was silver and it looks good. We are happy with the price option that was for this color compared to the others that were $50 or more. Everything was packaged well and looks great once all put together. Stool is comfortable and easy to adjust. Everything seems very durable and can handle our toddler playing with it.

Well my son loves them its just his size. Its a good value worth yhe money. Now assembling it lol the directions were horrible. For someone that knows/been around drums it be easy to assemble knowing the terminology for everything, but for someone like me that hasnt been around drums directions didnt make any sense. Lucky for me i can look at a picture and put it together. Maybe theys should label the bags with letters and instructions to make it easier for the non musicians puttting it together. Overall the drums work and sound great

The drums came in good condition and set up was very easy. I've read through all the reviews, and I feel like I should point out a few things that people said negatively about these drums. . . 1. They are not a "high end drum set," however, they are AWESOME for a kid! My 4 year old and 6 year old love them! The quality is much nicer than a "toy." This is a great starter drum set for kids. 2. I also read in some of the negative reviews that the instructions were difficult or non-existant. While the instructions were brief, the kit went together very easily. Once you start putting it together, you get the gist of how to do it all. The instructions do not say anything about tuning the drum set, but there are plenty of videos on YouTube to help you do that. So, the only negatives are that they are not "High End" and that the assembly instructions were not that great. Both of those were very minor. The quality of this drum set is still excellent, and the assembly was still very easy. I would budget 90 minutes for assembly. It took me about 20-30 minutes just to unbox everything and lay it all out. After that, assembly was easy-peasy! So far, my kids love them. If you are looking for an entry level drum set, BUY THESE!

I bought this Mendy drumkit for my youngest nephew Victor, he is age 4. And it seems like a good tool to get into the drumming mood. There is everything a drummer needs, except chair and drumsticks. Pretty easy for anybody to assamble and start playing. Its not really a toy kit, and then again it is, made for small children, and sounds like a play toy drumkit, BUT still, it sounds better, than many other junior drums, and more like a semi proffesional toy kit than more common junior drums often more fragile and made from cheaper materials. This drumkit I bought to give my nephew an interest in rythm and drums in general. I think I soon will be able to measure how deep an impact his drumkit will make on his drumming interest. No doubt a cool junior kit for small children. All drums sounds good - like bright toy drums, and there is something cute about how they look. Most importently is that this kit is very usable. Also can be used by new street drummers. Real semi pro toy drums for small children or young amateur musicians P e a C e And thanks for a good deal. .................................................................................................................. (Delivery was twice the price of the full drum kit). All the way to Denmark. So it was (and is), quite expensive. And that is a much higher cost compared to Pearl's offer on a junior drumkit, with real drums made from wood, Sabian cymbals (crash/ ride / hi hat), all stands and pedals , drumchair and drumsticks in good quality, And Pearl will offer delivery cheaper - and faster anywhere in the World I bought Pearl juinor offer for a good friend's Son. And comparede to the Mendy drum kit, did I save 235 Dollars, Approximately 1.500 kr Danish kroner more (235,9 Dollars), because I got the delivery that much cheaper. I did not order another Mendy kit, though I could use one more junior kit, for another young boy , that I hope to grow up, and become a sublime drummer. But It would be cheaper to buy yet another Pearl drums offer on a junior kit from Denmark, Germany or Sweden. But I will buy other music instruments, and or soundstudio gear, microphones, midi stuff, keyboard, bass, mididrums, racks and so on. Take Care Of Your Hair :D Best regards Henrik / Cuuuli D

I'm sure the product overall is fine but the foot pedal won't connect/deffective. I tried calling the phone number and email provided here on Amazon...email bounced back and phone number is "not in service". I went to their website and tried the phone number and email provided there...same outcome. There's literally no way of getting a hold of them. It's really not that big of a deal and I'll just buy my son a new one but wouldn't buy from the company again. Zero customer service and with something like this...it's important.

First off - you need to temper your expectations with this kit. Keep the price in mind and be comfortable with the idea that this is going to be a whacking set. I got this for my youngest’s 5th birthday after he showed interest in my electric kit. This set is a great entry level kit. Just the right size and, surprisingly, well put together. The construction is solid and this kit does sound good despite the price. Having said that, I’ve played for over 30 years and I’m familiar with set up and tuning. I mention this only because, for me, putting the kit together was a breeze. Keep in mind that the snare beads are inside the drum and not outside like a majority of snare drums. You need to adjust the tension on the side for more/less snare sound. Also, the cymbals are cheap (junk may be a more accurate description) but this is also how I assume the manufacturer keeps the cost down. I would also mention that the pin designed to keep the hi-hat pedal in place didn’t fit. Easily solved with a trip to the hardware store for a thin bolt though. All in all, this is a kit that can grow with your child or something you won’t regret buying if they lose interest. If you aren’t familiar with drums and their set up or how to adjust them, always go to YouTube where you can find literally 1000’s of videos on the subject.
