I bought this Mendy drumkit for my youngest nephew Victor, he is age 4. And it seems like a good tool to get into the drumming mood. There is everything a drummer needs, except chair and drumsticks. Pretty easy for anybody to assamble and start playing. Its not really a toy kit, and then again it is, made for small children, and sounds like a play toy drumkit, BUT still, it sounds better, than many other junior drums, and more like a semi proffesional toy kit than more common junior drums often more fragile and made from cheaper materials. This drumkit I bought to give my nephew an interest in rythm and drums in general. I think I soon will be able to measure how deep an impact his drumkit will make on his drumming interest. No doubt a cool junior kit for small children. All drums sounds good - like bright toy drums, and there is something cute about how they look. Most importently is that this kit is very usable. Also can be used by new street drummers. Real semi pro toy drums for small children or young amateur musicians P e a C e And thanks for a good deal. .................................................................................................................. (Delivery was twice the price of the full drum kit). All the way to Denmark. So it was (and is), quite expensive. And that is a much higher cost compared to Pearl's offer on a junior drumkit, with real drums made from wood, Sabian cymbals (crash/ ride / hi hat), all stands and pedals , drumchair and drumsticks in good quality, And Pearl will offer delivery cheaper - and faster anywhere in the World I bought Pearl juinor offer for a good friend's Son. And comparede to the Mendy drum kit, did I save 235 Dollars, Approximately 1.500 kr Danish kroner more (235,9 Dollars), because I got the delivery that much cheaper. I did not order another Mendy kit, though I could use one more junior kit, for another young boy , that I hope to grow up, and become a sublime drummer. But It would be cheaper to buy yet another Pearl drums offer on a junior kit from Denmark, Germany or Sweden. This set is great! Purchased for our daughter’s birthday. I originally was going to get a different set, but my order was canceled due to out of stock, so I decided one this one instead. Our daughter loves when we listen to rock music and has taken an interest in drums, so we really like that she can grow with this. Plus my husband and I will have fun playing the drums with her. The directions are not completely clear and can be more difficult when you have a toddler trying to help you install and pieces are missing, lol. The color we purchased was silver and it looks good. We are happy with the price option that was for this color compared to the others that were $50 or more. Everything was packaged well and looks great once all put together. Stool is comfortable and easy to adjust. Everything seems very durable and can handle our toddler playing with it.

My seven year old son has been playing this set for just over a year. It was nice to have an inexpensive and complete set for lessons. Soon though, it was obvious that the snare was not going to cut it for long, so I replaced it with a Pearl snare and cut the stand down to fit this set. Big improvement. Next, the hi-hats had to go. So the set is still okay for a little guy, but I have cobbled together $150+ in new components in trying to make it function like a "real" set. In retrospect, I think it was a good deal and a solid choice, but only because one never knows how a child will take to a new instrument. Should I have bit the bullet and spent some bucks on a nicer junior-sized set? Maybe. It probably would have been the same ultimate investment. However, the front end cost of this rig got the boy playing without a whole lot of risk and the shell of it is still going strong. Recommendation- if money is no object, consider different options. If you are simply exploring musical options for a child, this might fit the bill pretty well.

This was one of the best purchases I ever made for my boys. First off, this is a real drum kit, it is not a toy. It is just a scaled down version... and it looks and sounds amazing. The quality is very good - the wood, hardware and tools are excellent considering the price. It helps to have an understanding of how drum kits go together - as this requires full assembly. This includes placing and tuning the heads, setting up the hardware, etc. As with just about any new kit, the heads do ring some - so I recommend picking up some damping pads - we used Moongel Percussion Damping Gels, which you can pick up at just about any music store (or on Amazon for about $6). The snare is adjustable, and the kit comes with a tuning key for the other heads. I can play these as an adult (ok.. my knees are a bit cramped), and they still sound great.... and they are perfect size for my 9 year old. I compared these to a $399 starter kit at Guitar Center, and this kit is better made and sounds better. It does need another cymbal, though, as it has only one splash. I spent a few bucks on another cymbal and some new sticks (the sticks that come with this are 'junior' sized, and my kid has big hands). Because of the quality, it can really take a beating, too... very sturdy.. even at the hands of an overly aggressive 9 or 15 year old. This is a great kit for any young aspiring drummer... or anyone who just likes to bang on things!

Got this for my 6 year old rock n roll obsessed son. I have to say, the set is pretty well put together and definitely a HUGE jump up from the typical "toy" drum sets that are sold at other retailers for nearly the same price(if you are looking at a First Act or similar set, skip it and buy this one). You get a bass drum with working foot pedal, two tom-toms mounted, a real snare drum, a floor tom, a working high-hat, and a cymbal mounted to the bass drum, plus a sturdy drummers throne (seat) and 2 drum sticks, and even a drum key to tune the drums. The set comes mostly disassembled so if you are an elf prepping this for Christmas, give yourself some time. I highly recommend adding a pillow inside the bass drum to give a more professional studio sound. The highs: drum sound build quality sturdiness size for a small child (probably up to 5' tall) looks professional The lows: cymbal and high hat sound "tinny" but not near as bad as most "toy" sets "unknown" if you can buy replacement drum heads "unknown" if you can buy replacement drum sticks (ie will "real" sticks tear up the drum heads too fast) bass pedal needs periodic oiling Once I find out the question about replacement heads and sticks I'll update this review. Overall if you have an aspiring drummer in your family, this set would be hard to beat!

Definitely worth the money, but not sure it it is worth all the messed up parts. Hi-hat pedal - the screw that goes through the pedal - is wrong. Won't go through the pedal; only goes through the outer piece. As a result, the 2 pieces are not connected and the pedal is hanging loose. I need to buy a thinner screw to put through and fasten this piece. Floor tom - 1 of the 3 legs for the floor tom does not go through the given hole. The hole is misaligned, due to which, the leg is angled and short...compared to the other 2 legs. The leg has scraped the bracket. Floor tom - the screws go through the bracket to fasten the cover to the drum. But 2 or 3 fasteners with springs had fallen off or misaligned inside. Took us quite a while to remove the cover, unscrew, remove the center pieces, align the springs/screws and reinstall. Assembly - we are 'novice' when it comes to drums. While there are detailed instructions provided along with the set, it is hard to read, interpret and put together. We followed a youtube video for another brand - which made it quite easy. Still took us more than an hour or so. Drum throne - could've been a little higher. Even with the 3 adjustable sizes, my 7 year old son, who by means is not the tallest, has difficulty sitting and hitting the base drum pedal. Once we got past all the above hurdles, my son has been practicing his drum lessons on it. It's been 3-4 days and so far, so good. I will provide an update after a few weeks.

The drums came in good condition and set up was very easy. I've read through all the reviews, and I feel like I should point out a few things that people said negatively about these drums. . . 1. They are not a "high end drum set," however, they are AWESOME for a kid! My 4 year old and 6 year old love them! The quality is much nicer than a "toy." This is a great starter drum set for kids. 2. I also read in some of the negative reviews that the instructions were difficult or non-existant. While the instructions were brief, the kit went together very easily. Once you start putting it together, you get the gist of how to do it all. The instructions do not say anything about tuning the drum set, but there are plenty of videos on YouTube to help you do that. So, the only negatives are that they are not "High End" and that the assembly instructions were not that great. Both of those were very minor. The quality of this drum set is still excellent, and the assembly was still very easy. I would budget 90 minutes for assembly. It took me about 20-30 minutes just to unbox everything and lay it all out. After that, assembly was easy-peasy! So far, my kids love them. If you are looking for an entry level drum set, BUY THESE!

Assembly was a bit confusing but once assembled the kids are loving it and making plenty of "music" my neighbors are thrilled with the amount of sounds and volume this drum set can produce. It has stood up to quite a beating already. Perfect size for children from 2 years up to preteens seem to enjoy using it. The included stool seat can support a 250 pound man, I've tested it for you. Over all good quality and value for the money. This kit is not for professionals playing an arena but is great for the kids to learn music.
