I ordered several colors and variations of Kanu Surf Swim Trunks, because they are a good value for the price. The colors are good and appear to be colorfast in the wash. They are comfortable to wear and look nice. My only complaint would be that the stitching is not the best - a little sloppy in places and a fair amount of stray strings that should be snipped off - but really its hard to complain at this price point. Time will tell if they are truly durable, but given the number of reviews I feel optimistic. ... show more

I ordered a medium -- 31" waist with 40" hips -- and it was comically oversized. Returned it with no hassle whatsoever, ordered a small. Small fits me perfectly, and I was able to get a sense of what kind of quality the suit was. I like the fabric's density and flexibility, liner, and deep pockets. To review the Kanu Surf Men’s Havana Trunks I will compare and contrast them to another, more expensive pair that is also available on Amazon; Speedo Men’s Marina Core Basics Watershorts. The Speedo’s I have had for awhile and worn about 20 to 25 times. The Kanu’s are newer and only worn twice. Size: Both are identical in size and fit with a 7 inch inseam and 20 inch side seam. Some reviewers have complained that they are longer than pictured; a tall model and long legs might explain that. I’m fairly short and both Kanu’s and Speedo’s are at my knees when worn at my waist just above the navel. Features: Both have elastic waistbands with drawstring, two side pockets, a small coin/key pocket and a cargo pocket with Velcro closure. Both have mesh lining for support and to form the pockets. Appearance: The Kanu’s are plain in a solid color, stitching to match and draw string on the inside. The Speedo’s have contrasting stitches, piping along the side seams and pockets, a logo on the left hip, and drawstring on the outside, laced through 4 eyelets. The Speedos look snazzier. Quality: I can’t say that there is a difference in fabric quality between the two; there could be but I don’t have the ability to tell the difference. Quality of construction is comparable. There is, however, a noticeable difference in quality on the inside of the two pairs. The mesh material on the inside looks and feels much better in the Speedos. Other reviewers have also noted the lack of quality on the inside of the Kanus. Price: Kanu’s are priced at $15.50. The Speedo’s vary according to size and color – mine were $24.98 but could cost someone else $40 plus. I can recommend the Kanu’s without reservation. Wait for the end of summer sale to buy, usually less than $10/pair at that time. I wear these all day here in Florida, from April till Nov. I work on my car/ motorcycle in them, do my yard work, and they hold up very well. Currently have about 15 pairs, keep about 10 in rotation, 5 in the closet to replace them as they fade and get worn from working and swimming in them Found them first at Beach shop in outer banks NC. Right away I took the swim trunks out of the bag and I noticed right away that one side of the tie string of the trunks it is damaged and they’re brand new. I love them they’re so great quality and super cute and look comfortable I’m just upset about the string being damaged.
