This fan and filter system is well made and effective, but is a bit noisy. Not crazy loud, but enough that it sounds like a window fan or AC on "Low." Even at lower speeds (1/2 to 1/3 of maximum). If the 6" model has a larger but lower RPM fan, it may be quieter. As other reviewers have mentioned, this is a good starter model and a good value, it just isn't top of the line which is OK for the price point. ... show more

This does not filter out odor AT ALL. It has been a major pain in my butt trying to find solutions when it was meant to be the solution. Don't bother buying it. The fan is louder than any I've used before, it's sturdy enough and certainly moves air well, it just does NOT filter out strong scents.

I was extremely surprised how strong the fan was being that it was built in and a lot smaller than the other 4-in fan that I purchased. With that being said it is about twice as strong as the other setup that I have and if I would have known that to begin with then I would have just purchased these from the beginning. With that being said I highly recommend them and they are very efficient and simple to use. And it also you can use it for intake or exhaust. Just flip it around and that will either breathe in or breathe out the airflow. It's a little bit louder than my other device but that's okay because the event fan is traveling a distance and also with curvature so I believe that's what's making a whistling noise. The carbon filter reduces the smell so it works very good! The only issue is I only have one of them , not four! LOL ... show more
