  • This rug cost me more than just the purchase price...
Size: Standard Color: Black
I bought this rug for my basement studio, it works well in the it doesn't move and the rubber backing keeps it in place. BUT, be warned! The rubber backing is heavily (and I mean HEAVILY) dyed. So much so that when I moved out of my place and removed the drum rug, I noticed HUGE black markings on the floor, right under where every pedal and stand was positioned. After calling 3 carpet cleaners, none could successfully remove the heavy black DYE left from this rug. Suffice to say, I'm now looking at eating the cost of replacing the affected flooring... ... show more

  • Don't get it wet + faulty velcro strap
Size: Standard Color: Oriental
I saw some of the reviews that said don't get it wet. "How bad could it be?" I said. The answer is pretty bad. I did a gig last weekend and the back end of the rug got exposed to water. Check out the photo. It's dry now and those aren't shadows. That's just how it looks after contact with water. Not only did the color run, but it created a hideous blue mess. My hands were totally covered in blue ink after packing it up. And it was dripping blue mess everywhere. I'm sure someone looked at the stage area the next day and said "what the heck happened here?" Fortunately I had a tarp to wrap it in keep it from ruining my vehicle's interior on the drive home! The other issue is the velcro strap. I guess maybe they expect you to flip the rug and roll it so that the carpet side is facing out? That seems dumb to me. I just want to roll it as is when I'm done, with the rug side face up. This results in the carpet side being protected and the rubber backing side facing out. it seems like poor design to have to flip it over and carry it with the good side facing out. The rug itself looked good until it got wet. Now it looks like a mess. It's plenty big, which is what I wanted. But it isn't practical to have a drum rug that the colors run and leaves behind a mess. As much as I wanted a rug of this size and with this look, I can't recommend the Meinl. One star. ... show more

  • Nice Drum Rug and Office Floor Protector. Play Out In Style.
Size: Standard Color: Black
I bought this to use under drumset and to try out as a replacement for the vinyl office mats that people put under their chairs to protect nice wooden floors. It works well in both cases. It's very lightweight and portable, while the rubber backing keeps it in place on almost any surface. In my home office I have nice teak parquet floors. It helps deaden the room a bit and it works well as a semi-industrial floor protector. And because I have amps, guitars, rack-mounted equipment and keyboards lying around, it fits into the motif (so very important. Huge!). I mentioned it's lightweight and portable: It can roll up and comes with a nice carrying case, so I can stuff it into my trap case and take it with me when I need to play a gig. Lightweight, durable, attractive...what's not to like? Well, there's one thing: It has a little strap attached to the underside which is supposed to be used to keep it rolled up. And that thing doesn't lie flat when the rug is deployed. And I'm a clutz, so I tripped on it every day for two weeks until I found my scissors. Problem solved. Happy days. ... show more

  • The material and rubber padding is to thin.
Size: Large Color: Oriental
I purchased this on April 6, 2021. The size is perfect and it looks great. It is very lite weight. Unfortunately, the material and rubber padding is to thin. All together it is about as thick as cardboard. Kick drum, kick pedal, and hi-hat spurs will punch through them very easily. It would not provide any protection for a hard wood floor. This rug would work well for lite jazz, especially with velcro on the pedals to keep from sliding. Heavy hitters that rely on spurs will shred this in a couple of gigs. It also has a glue smell that is very noticeable in a closed space. I do hope that goes away. I'm on the fence about keep mine, but if I do I'll have to use it with a second rug to protect my floor. ... show more

  • It's an ok rug. Go to Home Depot instead for better quality..
Size: Standard Color: Zebra Print
First off, This rug is ok... But what you really need to know is be careful ordering from gear nuts or you may get a "New" rug that looks like this. This picture is straight out of the box. Used and abused. Unfortunately I set it up 3 months after I bought it so I couldn't return it. Be careful. The rug itself is ok.. Would prefer it to be thicker and have more surface area. Don't get the Zebra styled rug from Gearnuts or it will be dirty. Order the black one or any of the others instead. Ugh ... show more

  • Works perfectly on my hardwood floor and looks great. With a rubber backing
Size: Standard Color: Oriental
Works perfectly on my hardwood floor and looks great. With a rubber backing, the rug appears to stay in place while drumming. My only concern had to do with the bass drum pedal spikes digging through the rug and into my hardwood floor, but after placing a few furniture leg pads under each spike (between rug and floor), problem solved. The colors are a little darker than seen in photo (not a deal breaker) and with an attached reusable Velcro strap, rolling the rug up and putting in the provided bag make it easy to take with me or for storage when not in use. I play on a Roland TD15K electronic drum kit with double bass, Simmons DA200S drum amp/speaker, multiple cymbal/mic stands and drum throne, and still have plenty of room for more equipment. I highly recommend the seller and this rug. ... show more

  • Great drumming rug, don’t let one trickle of water on it
Size: Standard Color: Oriental
This is a beautiful, soft rug but be cautious not to get it wet. The colors immediately run and the dark colors quickly bleed into the white lettering. Just takes even a little blotting with damp rag. After one time getting slightly damp its clean patterns are ruined. We use this under our sons drum set and it fits perfectly and does not budge. Cautionary tale: Animals around it or food and drink can ruin this fast ... show more

  • This is a great drum rug
Size: Standard Color: Black
This is a great drum rug. I have had it for a couple of months now, and I am very happy with it. High quality material that seems very durable. It also comes with a bag that you can use to transport the rug in. It is also large enough for a double bass kit. I know when I was searching I could not find any pictures of double bass kits set up on this rug, so here are a couple of pictures of my kit set up on it. Happy drumming! ... show more
