Looks AMAZING… just know the sizing limits ⚔️🔥
First off, this medieval gorget and pauldron set looks awesome in person. Opening the package honestly felt like unlocking armor in a video game 😄 The metal finish and overall style give off the perfect gothic-knight/LARP energy. That said, buyers should definitely know: 👉 The straps run small. I’m 6’4” and around 230 lbs, and while the armor itself looked great, the straps were too tight for a comfortable fit. I’ll probably end up modifying or extending them to make it work properly. So if you’re: Smaller framed Slim/medium build Or wearing lighter underlayers …it’ll probably fit perfectly right out of the box. A few highlights: ⚔️ Looks fantastic for cosplay, SCA, LARP, or display 🛡️ Solid visual quality and design 🔧 May need strap modifications for larger builds 📸 Great statement piece for costumes and photos Overall, I’d still recommend it, especially if the sizing works for you. 4/5 awesome armor, just wish the straps were more adjustable.

Strong smell, sharp edges, rusted areas, and bad protective paint application on the reverse side
Just not impressed with many aspects of the set of armor from VikingOaksLLC. While it is made of solid thicker metal sheets, the quality control of my set needed a lot of work. My set came with very sharp edges, not only at the neck area where the plates meet, but also where the rivets had punched through to the other side. There was no attempt to round the factory rough edges or remove sharp metal bits from around the rivets. If I put this on "as is", the outfit I am wearing had better be chain mail going against this plate set. This will snag the heck out of any fabric-based gambeson-like undergarments. I would have to sand these rivet spots and edges to keep them safer for the wearer/their underclothes, and sanding where the rivets come through the back of the pieces would mean having to redo the protective coating on the back (should someone get a good paint job on their armor, mine already needed replacing). There are places on the pauldrons that don't fit as well together and grind against each other as the plates move up and down. This can easily be seen as it is leaving small gray metal filings in the manufacturer's protective oil coating, and it's forming visible rough scratched spots that can rust more easily when in storage. As stated prior, there was also an issue with the coating on the reverse sides of all my pieces. To protect the reverse side that goes against the body, the manufacturer applied black paint to the set. However, on my set it's a very thin coat that wasn't adhered properly to the metal in the first place. There were many sections that had already chipped off, many areas had bubbles/blistering in the paint showing adhesion failure and poor application/drying conditions, and many areas were scratched off by the strap hardware or had sections where the paint had come off with the straps laying on it before it was fully dry. There were also sections that were already rusting/starting to rust. To fix this issue with the chest pieces it's really annoying, but doable. Remove old paint, sand off rust and stabilize the areas, and paint again. For the shoulders though, to fix this I would have to A: Remove the failed paint job as best I could while it's assembled, sand out the rusted spots and add stabilizers to try and prevent more rust, then reseal/repaint the back sections while it's still all assembled, having to go in super thin layers while it's bent all kinds of ways, and letting it dry/cure fully in between each position and layer while praying that I somehow managed to get all the spots covered. Or B: I could drill out all the rivets that hold the pauldrons together, take them all apart, sand, stabilize, repaint, and then finally put them all back together with new rivets. Which is a ton of work for what is supposed to be ready-to-go armor. If I don't find and stop the rust, it will just get worse over time. The leather straps need some serious softening. Mine are super stiff and hard to work into the buckles without damaging/cracking the leather. A ton of leather conditioner will be needed for my straps to help prevent cracking and to allow them to be more useable. Some of them feel like boiled leather. I'd also like to warn others that this armor comes coated in what smells like a wd40-type rust preventer. Maybe it's gun oil? It's acrid and industrial smelling. It gets everywhere, it's soaked completely into the leather straps (and I think it's making them stiffer somehow), and it stinks up a whole room when the bags are opened. Mineral oil could have also worked as a protectant while the armor was in transit, and it wouldn't have smelled like an industrial headache when trying to wear the armor. No amount of wiping is getting the smell off, it's really in the leather now. This will take time and a lot of airing out if I even chose to try and salvage this set. From what I received, I really wouldn't recommend this set. Mine is already rusting, has sharp edges and very rough clothes/gambeson-ruining rivet punctures, and smells headache-inducingly like industrial rust preventative.

Really awesome set of armor that looks great! Did come soaked in oil and has sharp bits though.
This is a really awesome armor set with a few drawbacks! First off, the set looks amazing! Truly, it looks like it came straight out of a movie (I especially love those shoulder guards)! It is made out of nice metal that is shiny and strong (and has some nice weight to it, but not too heavy to be a burden). It has nice leather straps that can be adjusted for different fits, but if you're a bit larger in the shoulder area, it might be a bit tight and need some strap extensions for you. I did have to ding this one a bit though for two reasons. First (and honestly the most problematic) is that the armor comes soaked in oil (like, it was almost dripping off of it). This made my entire downstairs reek of diesel. It's also very oily and slimy to the touch, so you pretty much have to wear gloves and something over your clothes to protect from the oil. The second big problem is that this thing has some very sharp edges and sharp rivets on the underside, meaning you need to wear some robust clothing or chainmail underneath this for the sake of safety. Still, this is a really cool set of armor and perfect for festivals or performances, so I thought its pricing was reasonable. All around, this is an awesome set of armor with some drawbacks that you might have to work around if you're looking for a cool set!

I was hesitant about the one size fits most concept of this item. But it worked. I don't think it'll protect you from an actual heavy sword attack but it looks and feels believable enough for like a Renaissance fair or something that's more for show. I would recommend.

Cool set of armor!
Okay, the armor is very durable! Its almost like a real set of armor! The quality is unmatched! The paint is great on the outside. Not so much on the inside, but no one will see that. I am disappointed in the size. If you are plus size, it will not work as it should. There is oil on it to keep it from rusting, so be aware of that. Its easy to put on, but because I am too big for it, it fit awkwardly. A smaller person would look great in this armor set!
