Having run a Comgrow Z1 for a little over a year, I finally ran into projects that needed a stronger laser and a larger cut area. I needed to cut 3/8 inch ply, or 10mm ply in metric. This machine cuts through like butter at 100mm/min, 100% power and 1 pass. I like the safety features on this machine with the emergency stop button and safety key. It also has wireless communication and an SD slot for use without a computer attached. I had some issues while we were getting to know each other though, and they were all my fault. Here they are and how to resolve them: Circles were not closing and came out like a kindergarten student trying to write an O. This was due to belt tensioning. The x axis has a tensioner that is easy to use, but the belts on the y axis need to be pulled and have a screw tighten to hold the tension. For the y axis belts, use pliers to get a good grip and pull the belt up while tightening the screw to get good tension. The air assist was not activating when cutting via lightburn. This is due to a missed setting in Device settings. Set Air Assist to M7 and then the pump will activate when air assist is selected for your project. Beyond that, the only other issue I had was catching my plywood on fire, but that is from not spending a lot of time fine tining my cut speed settings and the wood being of poor quality. Overall, I highly recommend this machine! It has a large engrave/cut area, is plenty powerful and has many great features found on higher priced machines out there.

So I reviewed the laser earlier. Problems with air pump we resolved as they sent a replacement pretty quickly. I finally got a statement on replacement parts being available in June. So as for now it looks good and I hope to see replacement lenses and other parts available soon.

The media could not be loaded. X5 pro has been great so far. Haven’t had any major issues as of yet. Very fast engraving compared to the x3 pro I had, and cuts through plywood with ease up to 3/8”. It will cut 1/2” but you have to do multiple passes. Had to build my enclosure for it since they do not currently make one for it. Only thing I wish is they had replacement lenses I could buy. Other than that very good machine!
