I wanted study plastic clear totes for my 4 kids’ toys. We don’t have a lot of space and they are great at picking up when done playing but struggle to see what was in their fabric cube boxes. This seemed perfect but I was worried about getting them apart. I read many reviews so I knew HOT water and some sort of conditioner or oil made it easier. I got all 16 apart in about 40 minutes. I filled the top cube with hot water and then used my girl’s Shea Butter extra moisture detangler. I spayed it down all 4 sides and let sit for about 5 minutes and then they seemed to slip apart. I’ll write more after we have used them for a few weeks in the sturdiness!

Great product but as everyone else has said, almost impossible to get apart. I initially tried Goo Gone, sprayed between the bins as I stuck my finger in between them so it would go down the sides on the inside. This did work, but cleaning the Goo Gone off was difficult. I finally squirted some Dawn dish soap using the same method - this worked great they slide right apart.

I didn’t read the reviews before purchasing so when they came in the mail I was very confused and upset by the way these were packaged. Stuffed together as tightly as possible. Not even my husband could get them apart! I read through a few reviews for ways to get them loose without breaking. (The review where a guy uses a rope and the review where a woman fills her bathtub are the two methods I combined) Here is what I did. I filled my bathtub with the hottest water that came from the tap. Then I thoroughly mixed some hair conditioner into the water. I placed my stack of bins into it and held it under water for a few minutes, then flipped it to the other four sides to do the same. I dumped the water from the top bin but water was still trapped in the bottom 3 bins. Turns out this is what I needed. I used gravity to pull the bins apart by continuously yanking on the top bin. The weight of the water in the bottom bins with the conditioner helped make the top bin slide right off. The bottom bins came apart easily after that. I didn’t use oil because it’s harder to clean off, whereas conditioner just rinses off! None of my bins are damaged in any way. Just my arm muscles. Hope this helps

The product itself is GREAT...however the packaging is terrible. There needs to be tissue placed between each bin (at a minimum in the corners). We are still unable to separate four of the bins. They are so stuck together in the corners it's extremely difficult loosen them. It took us 4 hours to separate three (3) sets of four bins each. We resorted to "googling" techniques for separating plastic bins. Though while trying to separate them we were so worried they would break or crack, due to the force we were applying. One technique worked better than others but not consistently and not without a lot of struggle. If we cannot get this last set separated we will have to return them, unfortunately we really need them.

Update… 2nd set came and have paper between them. But I’m still stuck (pun intended) with three that are stuck together. 😩😩😩 I love these. Ordered them before. But this time they sent them with no packing between them, just stuck together….forever. I can’t get them apart to save my life. Whoever packed these needs to have their life choices examined. I mean…seriously….are you Dr Evil’s other long lost son or something??? I certainly hope the replacements are packed with something between them so they’ll come apart. But they are great lil bins. So there’s that.

Here’s the deal: these bins are DREADFUL to separate. After reading through all the methods suggested, the one that worked best was: BATHTUB + HOT WATER + CONDITIONER= SUCCESS!! It took me about 10 minutes to separate all. I only gave the bins 3 stars because it is a huge PITA to separate these and they are pricey. However, once that’s done- the bins are fantastic. They fit the standard 12 inch cube style storage units perfectly and make our playroom look tidy (at least for long enough for me to take a photo.) I would recommend these- but pull up your sleeves and prepare to work a little bit before you can use them!

Bought to go in my cube organizer shelf. Works well and fits like it should. We have only unpacked four of the eight ordered as they are SUPER difficult to separate when stacked for delivery. My husband used a bag of frozen corn to somehow unsuction the first four. I've been trying to separate the second set of four and have been unsuccessful in the last hour. Not sure if i would buy again as they are no fun to separate.
