I bought this cue for a friend as a gift. I have used McDermott cues exclusively for 30+ years, although I have tested many others and played in tournaments against other cues, and nothing feels better to me. Not even high-end Balabuska, which are unbelievable cues! My wife is a casual player and I bought her a Star as well, years ago, and it has held up wonderfully. That made it really easy to buy another one for my friend, who is a serious player who wanted to get better. McDermott did not dissapoint, this cue is quality! The places where McDermott cut corners do not compromise fit and finish, and this cue is even strong enough to break with. And like all McDermott cues, once you break them in properly the shaft is smooth as glass. Hand chalk is the enemy of all quality cues, and unnecessary. ... show more
