Our 55lb beast MUST walk with the leash in his mouth. Obvs bc he is in charge (LOL so he thinks). Ordinary leashes last few weeks at most. Our experience has been that these are good for a year. They’re like a thick bike cable wrapped in equally tough fabric. These will last unless you have the XXL version of our house monster (who is otherwise gud boi), slather the leash with beef fat and let them have at it in place of a bully stick. It will still prob take a few weeks to destroy it. Seriously tho, this is one tough leash for chewing obsessed dogs who suddenly become King when a leash is attached. You know, the ones eat the allegedly indestructible Kong toys as a light snack.

I prefer rope leashes for walking large dogs, as they are much more comfortable to hold for a long period of time. Flat leashes fray, fade & wear out quickly. They don’t wash up well either. Yes, I throw my rope leashes in the wash, along with dog blankets. I let the leashes hang dry. Recently I adopted a small Lhasa Apso pug mix. At first tried a harness with a thin, flat leash, as the pet store didn’t have much of a selection. Ughh! The leash felt so flimsy, like the dog didn’t know it was attached to the harness! I knew I could find what I wanted on Amazon. I got this 1/4 inch rope leash & what a HUGE difference it made! My little dog stopped pulling right away after I made only 2 corrections. My hand didn’t hurt from holding the extra slack of the leash either. I love the colors (black & red) & the quality is excellent for the price! I feel I should tell anyone reading this; that I always cut the foam handle piece off the end of the rope leashes I buy. Just my personal preference - the foam makes my hand sweat (yeck!). Any way, I know this leash will hold up to daily use so much better then a flat leash! Very, very happy with this purchase!

I found that the foam padding around the loop handle part was uncomfortable and actually made it harder to hold the leash so I removed it and now the leash is very comfortable and works well. It's a good width and weight for my 11 lb. chihuahua mix. The foam padding around the handle had actually started to tear and come off on its own so I just decided to help it on its way and remove it completely, and since it was bothering me to begin with, it turned out to be a massive improvement. I've been using this leash for 9 months and had no problems with it since removing the foam padding. It is still in perfect condition and working out well. I feel very safe and confident when walking my dog that the leash will hold up under my dog's normal pulling or if I have to suddenly pull her out of harms way from something. I ordered the 1/4 inch width, 6 ft. long purple leash. The actual width of the leash is a bit wider than 1/4 inch but smaller than a 1/2 inch so I'm not sure which width it is. All I can tell you is that I ordered the 1/4 inch width and it is working out well. I would recommend this leash and if the foam handle pad bugs you, it can be easily removed.

I don’t love the look at a honking leash with my 4lb papillon and this 1/4” leash is perfect. It’s thin and dainty, but durable. It looks pretty, has a strong and comfortable handle, and it’s not too long or short. Great everyday walk kind of leash, at an affordable? Don’t mind if I do! 5/5 from me.
