This LED light kit was a direct replacement for my 12-year-old Carry-on Trailer from Lowes. The lights have color-coded wire and is also printed on the back of the lights. They have three wires (white is ground). The wiring on the trailer was not color-coded so I needed to test the wires to find the directionals. Once done, the other wire was for the taillight. My trailer did not have a ground wire, so I drilled a hole and attached the white ring connector to the light bracket on the trailer. It took longer to remove the old lights (rusted bolts) and test wires. Works very well and brighter that the originals. Being a sealed unit, The lights should last the life of the trailer. ... show more

Good lights at a great price! Similar item at TSC is $75. Lights are plenty bright, I'm a lighting nerd. I am very particular about keeping my lights working and looking good. These went on a jet ski trailer today. They mount solid. The lens is not sealed, it is a screw on but I'm thinking the leds inside are waterproof. The wires coming out the back had sealer around them too. I actually like having a replaceable lens, due to the chance of hitting one accidentally. I always unplug my trailer lights when backing into water anyways. I'm thinking many people don't, but that is cheap insurance for blown fuses and builds on the amber clearance lights on the side that aren't waterproof. I did not use the wiring but inspecting it the gauge is sufficient for led lights, looks a little smaller than the name brand stuff. But remember these are leds and will draw a fraction of the amperage of your old incandescent bulbs. The wires are paired, stuck together to run down each side. I read some say all the wires were loose and individual, not so on mine. Packing was tight, when I first opened the outside box o didn't believe they fit all the stuff in the inner box. The lights have guides on the back for the wiring so you can flush mount them, but it only goes to the inside of the light. My wiring harness was at the outside of the lights and oddly there are no guides on that side, so took the licence plate holder and an old one from another kit and cut them down to use as spacers. Buy these lights! I'll try to remember to update if I have any issues. Hopefully with leds I'll never have to change these again, other than any external damage... ... show more

With the old halogen bulbs, it seemed that every time I went to use my trailer, I would get a warning for a burned out bulb. The halogen bulbs just can't handle the rough ride that the trailer suspension provides. My only regret with these MAXXHAUL LED lights is that I did not switch to them sooner! I have spent more on replacement bulbs in the past 4 years than the total cost of these LED lights. I was concerned that my modern SUV would not light the lower voltage draw of the LED lights, but I have had zero issues...they work great! Install was a breeze, with minimal wiring required. I have not tried their water-tightness since I put them on a car trailer, not a boat trailer. Quality seems good though so I would bet they hold up to being submerged, as long as you do not crack the housings. Overall, this is a no brainer decision. Buy these, you will not regret it! ... show more
