The only reason I gave it a four out of five stars is because the 3-inch backing plate was missing, unless I misread the description when I bought it, I just hope Amazon can make this right, but this polisher will be perfect alongside the M1000 I have.

    • Learn the Rotory!
One thing that I don't particularly care for on any Maxshine buffers or polishers is that they use the cheapest grease available. Maybe the manufacturers don't want them to last long. However these Maxshine rotories and DA polishers are very affordable, light weight, perform very well and I put a larger backing plate on this little rotory and it runs like a champ. They are ergonomic, so it's easy to use for long periods of time without feeling exhausted. This little M 550 is very quiet if you are using it at low speeds for jeweling or buffing out 2000 grit sanding marks. I could almost buy two of these M 550 for the price of a high dollar German made mini rotory. These have a great warranty from the manufacturer and Flex doesn't ... show more

I've seen some reviews talking about "tons of vibration" and saying "it's so loud!" Hearing these things I wasn't sure what to expect, especially being that it's a value priced polisher... But I have to say I'm pleasantly surprised. It's far quieter than my Flex 3401, Rupes LHR21, and even the Chemical Guys Torq 10fx. So on the noise side of things, I'm curious if those complaining have spent hours behind a polisher. It is also compact and easy to handle, coming with a 3 inch backing pad it's easy to get into tight spaces and get good correction. I used it for the first time today on 3 vehicles to knock out some scratches and a bumper scuff. After wet sanding, this little polisher brought the finish right back up and you can hardly tell the car backed into a light pole. For the price you can't really go wrong, whether you're a pro looking for an inexpensive compact rotary or a newbie trying their hand at some paint correction. Well done! ... show more

Finally had a chance to try this machine and declare it a keeper! I gave 4 stars, didn't like the power cord or location of speed thumb dial. These aren't deal breakers, just two areas that need improvement. I may replace the cord myself, I like the machine that much! I tried it out doing paint correction on my 2016 Silverado Z71 and used the new Meguiars 110/210 compound/polish combo. This is a smooth, powerful machine with good rpm range. Compared to my big rotary, this seemed rather quiet, and felt good in hand. I also used the Shinemaster extensions with this....you'll want them too! This is a good machine and I'm glad that I added it to the arsenal! ... show more

    • Don't fear the rotary!
My entire detailing career, I have been constantly cautioned to fear the rotary. While it is necessary to respect the rotary, fear is not necessary. In fact just the opposite! We should welcome the rotary back into our arsenals. I finally pulled the trigger on a rotary polisher, and boy am I glad! It has helped me cut down on my correction times. Seriously, I cannot tell you how much faster I can cover ground, without sacrificing finish, gloss or hologram-free results. Also, the lack of dual-action mechanisms means this beauty is smooth as can be. Another perk is that it is compatible with the Maxshine MN01, which is perfect for ultra tight areas. If I can articulate one point it is this: Don't fear the rotary; embrace it, master it and learn to use it to your advantage! This M550 is a great place to start. ... show more

    • Good quality-- Great Customer Service
I am a pro detailer-- specializing in paint enhancement. I bought this buffer April 2019. Since then it has been a beast compounding and polishing many many cars. Last week the brushes went out on it (happens) it came with a spare set so I changed them,, checked the grease (it was fine). I wanted to PURCHASE another set of brushes. I emailed them on Sat asked how to do that. that day they answered right away. Long and short is-- they wouldn't let my pay for them and a new set is on the way. that kind of service is hard to beat. This isn’t the one you want for your 6 month old $850 car payment. But it’s absolutely perfect for my old boat. Motor speed is consistent, grips are good enough, build quality has its flaws but the price is reflects all of that. Add in some 3” wool pads and some 3M glaze, you’ll put the shine back in anything with a gel coat. ... show more

    • Don’t let the great price fool you. This machine rocks!
I am a professional detailer. I bought this machine on a recommendation. I have fallen in love all over again w this machine... I use it with a 5” backing plate and a 5” wool pad for polishing dull fiberglass back to a high gloss shine. It is small light and effective. It does run pretty hot and the always on or off switch is a bit of an issue, but I’m not really using it as intended.... so far it is saving me time fatigue while making me $$$ it impressed me so much I just ordered the shinemaster m1000 too... ... show more
