  • One big, happy head
Color: Tortoise/Hcl Bronze Polarized Lens Width: 65 Millimeters
These were actually a loss replacement for a pair I bought almost eight years ago that were still in fantastic condition (save for a couple of minor nicks in the lenses thanks to intermittent butterfingers and toddler maulings), so I can speak to the longevity of the product, assuming my good friends at Maui Jim have made no major changes to production methods in that time. If anything, I think this latest pair is actually slightly improved over the old pair, as the frames seem to be more contoured to my oversized noggin (seriously, I wear a size 7 7/8-8 hat). Where the older pair kind of pinched right above my ears, allowing the slightly bowed-out front to 'bounce' a little on my face, these fit my skull more snugly without squeezing or leaving large gutters down the side of my head. In a perfect world, the lenses would be just slightly darker to both keep my light blue eyes happier and allow me more furtive glances when warranted, but I can't complain about them. Everything looks vibrant and they only leave me squinting when the sun's really directly in my eyes (though considering how sensitive I am to light, anything short of a welding mask leaves me vulnerable in that regard). The contours of the lenses and broad arms help keep bright spots from creeping in through gaps. Protection for sensitive eyes? Check. Good fit and look for someone with a head like a Peanuts character? Check. Proven durability over more than seven years of daily use in all kinds of climates and geographies? Check. These things are the best sunglasses I've ever owned and, if I ever lose this pair (knock on wood), I'll be back to buy the same ones again. ... show more

  • Best pair of Sunglasses I’ve ever owned.
Color: Black Matte Rubber/Blue Hawaii Polarized Lens Width: 65 Millimeters
I’ve owned dozen’s of sunglasses over the years, but decided to go after quality this time. Yes, Ray-B’s have been good to me, but These are even better! Pricey yes, but I’ll pay for quality and not made in China. Polarizing, comfort, clarity and color enhancing all superior to others I have owned in the past. ... show more

  • The Peahi in the Tortoise Frame is AMAZING!
Color: Tortoise/Hcl Bronze Polarized Lens Width: 65 Millimeters
I have had the Stingray in the tortoise since 2016 and I love them. The Peahi in the tortoise is like a big brother to the Stingray. The fit is perfect for me just like the Stingray, not too large and these have the most amazing wrap out there. I can also snug these right up against my face without having my eye lashes raking the inside of the lenses, which eventually mucks up the clarity and requires frequent cleaning. Let me say that the tortoise frame is the one to get, MUCH BETTER than the rubber. It is not even close. When you hold these in your hands you instantly feel the quality of craftmanship, just as I do with my Stingray frame. Last week I received the Local Kine from MJ directly and the frames no longer say 'Made in Italy'. So not sure where they are made now. The tortoise frames are VERY comfortable, more so than the rubber, which left me feeling like I was slipping on a straight jacket, with the rubber frames there is not enough room for ventilation of your face. I can see why some complain of the fogging with the rubber frames. You will not have that issue with the tortoise, and not to worry, the tortoise frame blocks just as much ambient light from sneaking in. I was also happy to see that the outer box came label-sealed, ensuring that these have never been tried on by someone else, I included a picture of that. And the design of the other end of the box is such that it is impossible to open without tearing the box. So happy to have these! ... show more

  • I don't always wear shades, but when I do... I prefer MAUI JIM.
Color: Tortoise/Hcl Bronze Polarized Lens Width: 65 Millimeters
You can't get any better than Mauis. I have had every brand of shades from Varvatos and Versace to Ray Ban... nothing holds a candle to the frame quality and lense clarity/color of Maui Jim. Costas are jokes and are laughable. Trust me I laugh at my brother and his inferior "del mars" all the time. I started off with the World Cup and after much abuse in the oil industry, being chewed up by a dog, and set on fire they finally succumb, so I tried out an aviator style Dawn Patrol. Nice set but not for the active. I tried several pair and like the styles of the newer arrivals, but the Peahi seem to be the perfect fit. From riding my Harley, hanging out at the pool, to kayaking and fishing... these things get the job done! I will never own another brand of shades. Plus the women love em and I'm pretty sure the bronze tint turns em on a bit. ... show more

  • Very glossy
Color: Gloss Black/Neutral Grey Polarized Lens Width: 65 Millimeters
I like them overall. I used to have the matte finish, but I lost them on a recent trip. I’ve had both the blue lenses and the tan lenses in the matte finish, and like them both. I decided to try the gloss finish this time. I like them, but they are definitely shiny and smudge easy. It is taking me a while to get used to them from the matte. But I think when it’s all said and done I may like them more, they are growing on me for sure. ... show more

  • Best Sunglasses I've ever owned .
Color: Black Matte Rubber/Hcl Bronze Polarized Lens Width: 65 Millimeters
This is my second pair of Maui Jim Peahi Sunglasses and they are by far the best sunglasses I've ever owned. I had my first pair for 5 years and finally lost them overboard. Knowing there was no getting them back, I purchased a new pair that day. The HCL Bronze lenses block out the sun perfectly on a clear day, but allow enough light so that you don't need to take them off when driving through a long tunnel. I have a pair of Costa's with lenses specifically for the Water, and these do just as good a job blocking out glare and allowing me to see below the surface - plus I can see my Chartplotter / Fishfinder from any angle. If you're a boater, you know how difficult it is to find sunglasses which will offer all of this. ... show more
