The Master Kuo G-5 3X Extra Large Fish Knife is designed for cutting the heads off of large fish, and for cutting the body into steaks. The G5 3XL knife is known as Taiwan Tuna Knife, Maguro, Magurokiri, or round belly fish knife. It's used by pushing the heel of the blade into the fish and then rolling the blade forward to finish the cut. Of course it can whack or hammer its way as well. Weighing in at 2.6 lbs, this is one serious fish knife! This G5 3XL Fish knife is made with 3 layered laminated steel. The outer steel is stainless while the inner core steel is a traditional Japanese High Carbon SK5 steel. Knife care. Stainless clad outer steel will not rust, but exposed SK5 core edge steel can show signs of surface rust over time. Most surface rust can be removed by sharpening the edge. Kuo Chang-Shi is most famous for forging the original Green Sword of Destiny from the 2000 movie "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon". His Damascus steel designs incorporate human bones and ashes to imbibe the spirit into the piece, as well as to add some elemental strength to the steel (such as manganese and phosphorus), which is based on historical accounts in ancient Chinese sword making.
