  • nice entry level airbrush setup
Bought this for my wife to use to decorate cookies for her business. It arrived with great instructions and was easy to setup. I opted for this version for the variety of airbrushes that it came with. It worked incredibly well for airbrushing cookies and I'm sure it will work well for other projects, using new brushes for the non-food safe paints of course. Ive used airbrushes for automotive painting and art before from higher end brands and this is a very nice set for the price. If you want better brushes down the line this compressor will certainly provide enough flow for them. Definitely recommend this for a good starting kit if you want to get in to airbrushing. Look at the other options if you dont need food safe colors. ... show more

  • Fantastic addition to my decorating tools
I was so excited to receive this airbrush and start using it. I read through the manual and set-up was very easy. I did have a friend that showed me how to disassemble and reassemble the airbrush gun (the gravity feed brush), so that might have helped although there is no assembly of the airbrush needed to get started; it was just good to know for cleaning. As others have mentioned, the compressor gets very hot. I've used mine on a table and a countertop in an open room so there is plenty of ventilation, and it hasn't had any issues with over heating. The compressor does vibrate when operating so be aware of that. On my table the suction cups were sufficient to keep it from moving around, but on my countertop it moved around so much that I had to place it on the floor. I'm not sure what the difference was. As for the airbrush - I have had to adjust the needle quite a bit for clogging issues. And I also had issues with sputtering. But then my friend who is very familiar with airbrushes showed me what I was doing wrong and those issues were mostly resolved. Turned out that I was releasing the trigger at full spray instead of taking it back to a air only position and THEN releasing it. Proper technique is very important to proper working order of the equipment apparently! I have not used the siphon fed gun or gravity fed spray gun as of yet. The operations manual stated that water was sufficient for cleaning the gun. Most airbrush cleaning solutions are NOT food safe. IF you are only going to use water, use distilled water as your last rinse so that you don't get minerals drying in your gun. I have been using Everclear alcohol to clean it so that it dries quickly, too. So far it's worked well. I also took the needle out to clean it after my project was completely done and noticed that it needed cleaning even though the instruction manual doesn't tell you to do this. I guess it's been helpful to have a friend that was a professional airbrush artist to tell me things I didn't know. The Americolor Amerimist colors are great! I didn't get a shimmer color with this purchase as the description states, but I had also ordered the metallic colors of bronze, silver, gold, copper, and red sheen and they were all great colors for the Steampunk cake that I made. I would say that this is a solid investment for me and I would recommend this kit if you are interested in airbrushing your confections. ... show more

  • Fun new tool, that takes a little time to figure out...
My husband bought this as a gift for my cookie decorating. I was very excited when I opened the box, but also a little confused. So many parts with little to no explanation as to how to use each part and start up the machine and properly clean up after use. After watching a few YouTube videos I felt confident enough to give it a try. Knowing nothing of what to expect from an air compressor, because I have never used one before, I initially thought the motor was shorting out when I turned it on. Then I realized that once enough air pressure builds up the motor stops until the pressure is released. I have only used one gun so far, it definitely takes some practice and getting used to the grip and correct touch to avoid over spraying. However, I was able to create some cute designs even with my very limited experience. I have to watch a few more YouTube videos on the other guns before I feel ready to try them out. The compressor is kind of loud when running and vibrates causing it to bounce and move. It almost fell off my kitchen counter when I was cleaning my gun. I place it inside a tray or on a tea towel now to minimize the movement. The unit also has a very strong chemical odor, I assume it is some kind of lubricant inside the compressor and hope the odor will fade with time. Overall I am satisfied with this purchase, I would like more instructions, but in this computer age, lack of instructions are not a huge obstacle. I would recommend this set to any pastry artist. ... show more

  • I LOVE IT!
I got this to elevate my cake decorating. No special skills needed, easy to use. It works amazingly well and has everything you need in the kit. You can just take it out of the box and start using it. AMAZING RESULTS!!! I would give this 10 stars if I could.

  • Taking away a star from previous review.... moisture in the hose after using it!!
Researched airbrush kits for over a year, and decided this was the one to purchase. I only use the gravity fed airbrush, and have not used the other two brushes that came with the kit yet. It does have a moisture trap, which is a great feature. Hoses are good quality. Easy to set up and clean.

  • Airbrush gun details
I love this airbrush! You can do a lot of different things with each gun! The silver gravity feed works as expected which is what is in most basic cake shops. The gun with the trigger is wonderful. that one makes really fine lines to really get some detail, you can write your name and everything because has very little overspray. and on the back you can control your amount of color easily! The other one with container is for big jobs. It takes a lot of color to fill the bottom so I would use it on a big wedding cake or something and you can't change your color often unless you want to waist all that color or get more then two bottles! I do really love this one tho! Would be great for big jobs and has a lot of controls on the front to where you can choose to spray out such a little amount of color it barely shows to prevent overdoing it or you can adjust it to lay the color on thick! Kit came with everything it said & is a good deal! ... show more
