It domes with one sheet of paper instructions. No video instructions available. Yes, you need studs to hang this up on the wall. I had a little trouble finding studs in the placement where I wanted it, but we still found some. Had to use a few different types of screws because the screws that came with it for the wall were kinda long, and i think I have metal studs?? Anyway, it I recommend having someone else there to help you with putting it up. It’s not super heavy though, but it’s easier to mount with help. Looks great, is pretty sturdy, and I love how it looks on my wall. I am glad to finally be able to upgrade to a floating console at an affordable price! ... show more

    • Good Solid Floating AV Shelf

Pretty happy with this purchase. I got the 48 inch one, it arrived undamaged and packaged really well. Assembly took only a few minutes. Mounting the support board on the wall was easy enough, just need to keep it level. There are enough pre-drilled holes in the back board that I was able to hit a couple studs easily enough. The shelf itself has a couple 90 degree brackets that hold it to the support board and it seems to hold it pretty securely. So far I have had no bending or pulling away from the wall due to weight so pretty happy. The one thing that I don't like is that it's pretty chunky. LIke there's no curves it's all right angles and bulky looking and the inside edges are not finished. So you want to be looking downward towards it when seated rather than looking upwards at it or you'll see all those unfinished edges inside of it. Overall happy with it, as long as it keeps staying in place and doesn't start to pull away from the wall i'll be a happy camper. I suppose if you were loading it up, it would be possible to add more 90 degree brackets to hold it more securely to the supporting board. ... show more

This is definitely one of the better quality pieces of furniture in my home. Super sturdy and really heavy. The finish unfortunately isn’t a real wood finish they used some type of plastic veneer BUT that makes the surface very hard and resilient while still looking really good. Mine’s a mess right now but I think it’d be a good idea to paint the wall inside it black as well since you can still see some paint through the inside. I tend to over do things so I mounted mine with a bunch of toggle bolts and long screws into each stud I came across. I really tried using every screw hole through the mounting piece of wood. All in all I would highly recommend this if you were considering purchasing. The only downside is that the insides are just a little too short to fit my Sonos Play:5 in them so I have to keep the speaker on top. ... show more

I put this together and mounted it myself, and I'm a 5'3" small woman. Although I do a lot of junk around the house so mounting things isn't a foreign or scary thing to do. Anyone else I would urge help getting everything straight, I'd recommend a good level and someone to hold things for you while you mark. If you can't find studs yourself, get a small stud finder. I'm kind of obsessive compulsive, I hung the TV and this the same day and it took a long time just because I wanted the spacing and centering to be spot on. The only thing that bothers me is the unfinished parts I can see that apparently no one of else notices. It sure did exactly what I wanted and made our bedroom a lot more airy and feel more relaxing. Photo isn't the greatest, I promise the greyish wood looks great in person. And excuse the gaming console cord, we move that from room to room. Only complaint is the "hole" for cords is useless. And if you're mounting it like I did get some cord covers/tracks/whatever they're called. ... show more

The kit was easy to assemble, but highly recommend you read through the installation prior to putting it together. Understand thoroughly, how it is pieced together. Once you understand the build is as quick as you want it to be. The short dowels were loose fitting, but I used wood glue to insure they would not come out as I tried to assemble. I recommend doing this....just a little dab of glue in the dowel hole. For the cleat, the studs never seem to line up perfectly. I just drilled extra holes in the cleat to where my wall studs were located. Home builders, specifically framers, will get the whole 16" o.c. close, but not necessarily exact. The kit accommodates the extra drilling if you need to. I used 1/8" pilot bit to drill for screws that went into the studs. I wish the kit would recommend a drill size for the screws they provide. Great kit, one of the best I've put together in a long time. Take your time, go slow. Oh, and you should not put your TV on this stand. The company recommends that your TV be wall mounted, which mine was. There is a hole on the top and one on the bottom to feed cable. That came in really handy when running all my wiring.     • Clean, simple and sturdy
I love the clean look, sturdy and fits in nicely under the TV (it’s a 60” and the tv is 55”- - definitely it should be placed about 6-7 inches and centered under the TV (not above the TV stand doesn’t look as good above eye level). Would recommend two handymen/women to install, mainly because it is heavy and hard to balance it yourself, keep it level, and you need a stud finder. It must be attached to the wall studs for safety and sturdiness. Bar for attaching to the studs was better than other shelves of this type. The installer used a cable management enclosure (got on Amazon it’s a foam cable management piece which hides and centers the wires) to hide the wires (the photo is before I had that done. ) There are no doors on the floating shelf, so the good points are that it’s easy access to your remotes and cable boxes, sound bars etc. You don’t have to worry about tv stand doors that have problems closing or are uneven. But the only downside to that is that there are no doors to hide the wires. You still see them inside the unit as there are no doors. I like the simple clean look and sturdiness. Took a long time to figure out which one to get and I’m pleased with my purchase. ... show more

I hung this below a 77” TV and it’s been great. Very easy to build and hang, with the exception that the width means you’re going to hit at least 3 studs and the holes on the clear hanger aren’t drilled to allow centering on a stud. I drilled my own mounting holes and it was a minor inconvenience for a great final result. ... show more

This was very easy to put together my seven-year-old daughter help me build it. It is a little bit heavy so you definitely will need two people to mount it, but I love it. I love the color. I love the sturdiness.
