There's a lot of opinions about Mario Party 8 vs 9. The big difference in 9 is that everyone is in one vehicle aka game pieces. So this means you move as a group. This doesn't make the game easier or impact fairness though. When your character is driving then your character is the one affected by both bonuses and traps. It does however move the other character past these benefits or bad spots on the board. You may have no choice but to say, lose 10 stars just by rolling a dice when it's your turn or you may be moved past the bonus you needed to get ahead. This changes the strategy from 8 because you aren't only rolling for your turn you are also rolling while thinking of the next players turn. I enjoy the added puzzles this new format presents. There are also different and more games in this edition, I definitely noticed that I have more variety in mini games now. Honestly they are both great games for different reasons and I highly getting recommend both as they are that unique.

There is no doubt about what Nintendo is doing, pulling the plug soon on the Nintendo Wii, and putting its focus on the upcoming Wii U system. But when it has came down to mini-games, Mario and friends have always shown to be strong and fun for everyone. But it has been awhile since we've seen a Mario Party game come out. The last one came out was back in 2007 with Mario Party 8. It delivered the challenges and fun gamers expected from the franchise, and a mini-game buffet that was enjoyable. Yet, we haven't seen much of that from the Wii while other titles like Wii Party and Fortune Street tried to deliver. Yet, they haven't hit the home run that gamers have hoped for. Now, Nintendo has given the Wii one last party to throw and it is definitely worth money. Mario Party 9 for the Nintendo Wii brings the back to basics action longtime fans have hoped for from beginning to end with Mario Party, with a few new twists to the mix. The game features over 80 different mini-game challenges including boss battles and surprises that make a few new elements worth their while. The mini-games range from battles with foes like Lakitu and Bowser Jr. to mini-game challenges that will shake you from chopping wood in half like a lumberjack with the Wii-mote, to bowling for goombas, trying to score a perfect strike, all the way to scoring the most points for a pizza by hurling (throwing) toppings onto it. The boss battles are also exciting here from trying to shoot shells at cheep-cheeps to trying to make a strong roll without Bowser trying to knock you off the perch as you roll through his block party. There are also a few new elements to the game ranging from new characters like Kamek (Magikoopa) and Shyguy making their debuts on Mario Party, as well as a few board game elements here. One of them is that there are also a few boards like that range from the Donkey Kong Jungle Ruins, to Boo's Hanuted House, Koopa Beach where you could soak up the sun, while trying to capture mini-stars. The other big twist in Mario Party 9 is on the board, everyone will be moving at the same time when one player rolls and takes control of a party vehicle, challenging you to bigger excitement and even more challenging gameplay. The controls in the game are smooth with each and every game that test you in a whole new of gameplay. Overall, re-introducing new fans of Mario Party to a new generation of gameplay while for die hards re-challenging you into the fun. While I do honestly wish that there could've been online multiplayer action put into Mario Party, but overall it remains as strong and classic as you could honestly imagine with the fun. All in all, Mario Party 9 is definitely the last good buy for the Nintendo Wii, ending a 6 year run of innovation that Nintendo started, and changing the way we play video games by motion and fun for all ages. I have always loved Mario Party games from beginning to end, because they have brought out the fun of virtual board games for all to love since the first one came out on the Nintendo 64 in 1998. If you have been a longtime gamer of the Mario Party games, I absolutely recommend Mario Party 9. Even if you haven't yet played a mini-game challenge like Mario Party, than I definitely suggest you give this one last roll of the Wii dice. Mario Party 9 is a game full of competition throughout a large amount of mini-games for you to play. This game is truly meant to be played with a "Party" of friends though it is not necessary as it does feature a solo mode for single play. I started out playing solo mode and while you can immediately see why the game is more fun with people, the computer can still be an entertaining challenge for you, but it's just not the same thing. I'm not saying you won't enjoy the game in solo mode, for there are more than enough games that are fun for you to enjoy. However, this game is so much more enjoyable with actual friends as you all cheer and cry as you traverse the board. Cheer because it isn't very difficult to win and cry because it is extremely easy to lose! I love the new method of playing and traversing the "boards". Gone are the frantic free for alls as everyone is out for themselves on the board. Now, everyone travels together in a car and the board has a beginning and an end. I personally like this change because it does quicken the process. Gone are the days where one game would last over and hour and a half. These boards are meant to be completed in as little as half an hour, and personally I think its great.

I’m not a big video game fan. We have a wii that we don’t use too often. My kids don’t play fortnight, in fact they almost never play wii. Because their ages are a little spaced out (14 and 9) it’s sometimes hard to get the 14 year old to give out 9 year old the sister play time she wants. Well one of them saw a video of this game on YouTube and asked for it. And they never really ask for stuff like that so I was like okay why not. Well there are so many different games on this game that they LOVE itand don’t get bored from it. They are spending more time together and having fun, and want my husband and I to play with them too sometimes. I would not have thought a video game would add to more family time but it has. Definitely worth the money.
